I had a similar problem with my TV a twin scarted Naiko 28".I altered the output on my player from video to RGB out and got a colour picture via a scart lead.

I bought one from Makro last week and it plays vcds ok.Are you trying cover disks or "pirate film copies".Sometimes with pirate copies it depends on the brand of cd used, vcdhelp.com is a good web site for info
alba dvd 108 / dvd114 whats the difference ?

I bought an earlier model SD110 chipped from techtronics for use on a naiko 28" widescreen.To my horror it gave B&W in scart1.They told me my tv was not ntsc compatible and i would have to change it or buy a converter.I bought a converter for around £35 which works ok.Through reading this forum i discovered i could change the output on my dvd via onscreen menu to rgb output and get a colour picture when connected to scart1 with a fully wired scart lead.Are you sure your lead is fully wired.As an aside i have also bought an alba 108 dvd which is great,multiregion out of the box and a built in convertor all for £70.
