RE: yamaha vs10 cinemastation info required

just taken the plunge, could not get a5 anywhere, decided in the end to go for the vs10. phoned george henry lee in liverpool, sure enuff they price match, just had to take a screen print of unbeatable.co page.
went in yesterday, no hassle at all, service marvellous, also they included extra warranty, they have marked mine as a 5year warranty!!!,
although this must be a mistake. would recommend them to anyone.
as for the vs10 the is no other way to describe it other than its the dogs
bollocks, worth every penny of the £291 i paid,
it would lift the roof off any house at full hit, subwoofer is one hell of a rumbler.
thanks to clayts for help and advice last couple of weeks

RE: Anyone Have a reason not to buy a Philips 711?

steve,
i have the 711,performance is very good, both picture and audio.
it can be hacked for multiregion, your tv will need to accept an ntsc signal
for region 1 though, most new ones do i believe. the only problem i have had is in playing the extras on the t2 ue. it will freeze on certain menus.
it is however firmware upgradeable as i received an upgrade cdr disc direct from philips. i contacted philips asking whether this player suffers from branching problems, they e.mailed me back saying they are aware ot the problems and would send me the firmware upgrade. when i received
the disc i did the upgrade, region hack was not affected but it did not sovle the t2 ue problem
hope this helps

if anyone has good reports on this , i will buy

RE: yamaha vs10 cinemastation info required

thanks for the info guys,
am sorely tempted to visit john lewis to pick one up.
what do you think of this option?, the more i have thought of buying a system, i got the idea of buying a yamaha dsp a5, i think this is available for about £250. i already have a decent pair of hifi speakers that can be used as front left and centre, also i have a pair of jamo`s that are suitable for use as rear surrounds, this would mean me buying a front centre as well as a subwoofer with dspa5. i think that this would be the better setup but am tempted to go for the all in one compact solution of the vs10
any opinions would be appreciated
thanks

if anyone aware, would much appreciate any help
thanks andy

RE: Help with JMB DVD3000

dear alan,
try setting the colour settings from auto to pal,the player has a built-in transcoder, do this in the setup menu, if still no joy, enter menu as if you were changing region codes, there you will see another colour settings menu, change from auto to pal and things should work ok,if they do letme konw if pitch black is any good
andy

RE: Help with JMB DVD3000

as previously posted... here is what you need to do....power player on without a disc in,,press open,,stop and forward skip buttons on player for at least three seconds (press all buttons at same time),,,a menu will appear ,,,select region set with remote contol(up/down cursor and select buttons),,then select region free at bottom of list,, then exit ...player will power off and reset,, when you power back on it will be in permanent region free mode...point to note if you wish to play back yankie discs,,if your monitor will not accept ntsc change colour settings on dvd player from auto to pal
....you should now be sorted..pse respond if any probs,,,hope everything
works for you ,,,it has with no probs on mine ,including any problem discs

RE: TERMINATOR 2 SPECIAL EDITION:WILL IT PLAY ON CHEAP PLAYERS

RE: The good old Grundig 211...

yes the grundig will convert ntsc to and play in colour, however you will
need to alter the colour adjustment in menu setup from auto to pal
andy1234

grundig211a,,jmb3000,orion hacks,macro disable

as far as i know the hack for multi region play is infinite, mine has worked fine for a while now....
what i am looking for now is a macrovision disable, i would much appreciate if anyone is aware of any hack out there?
thanks very much in advance
andy

RE: Grundig GDV211a

i think that player ia a clone, try the hack that works for orion and jmb players..... as follows

switch power on.....press open,,stop,,, and forward skip buttons on player for at least 3 seconds (press all three at same time),, a menu should appear listing regions available, select region free at bottom of list using the remote up/down cursor buttons,, then exit. one more thing to note if this works,,, when playing a region one disc in ntsc, unless your tv will accept this signal you can alter the player to play back in pal via the colour sytem/adjustment menu....mine works just fine hope it does for you too .respond if you wis with outcome
