Question on Dual layer DVR-R disks

Can anyone help?
If I burn stuff on to a dual layer DVD-R from my PC, does my domestic DVD recorder/player need to have the specific capability to read dual layer disks, or can any DVD player read them.
Thank you

NTSc and PAL

I am interested in a USA Region 1 music DVD but it is in NTSC format. I have a Region 1 player but I know UK TV is PAL. Does this mean I cannot play it. Anyone help??? :/

Blackadder R1 - not impressed with quality

:/ Recently bought R1 Blackadder 5 disk set from from USA. Two things.
Firstly transcription to disk not that good. Is that the same for all Blackadder box sets (R1& R2) cos master video tapes not that good? Or have I just bought a duffer?
Secondly picture seems to be smaller, more focused in. Is this cos it is taken from USA TV which is not the same as ours?
Can anybody help

RE: R1 Blackadder 5 disk box set

It seemed good to me compared to at least 3 other R1 UK importers. Its £64.99 inc delivery from r1dvd.com (same for amazon.com USA). If you have seen it cheaper, please let me know.

RE: R1 Blackadder 5 disk box set

You are right. The edition I was talking about is about 2 years old but that is fairly new compared to some of the other Blackadder box sets.
Would Home Warner put new RCE coding on boxsets produced very recently, say this year???

R1 Blackadder 5 disk box set

I have seen this new edition sold for a very good price on a UK site but details of the set come with a heavy warning that Warner Brothers have stepped up their RCE coding and that the site will not accept returned DVDs should your player not play them, even if the player has been sold as `multi-region` and RCE proof.

I have a Toshiba SD-330 multi-region. Does anyone know whether my machine will play this boxset??????? Thanks

RE: Region 0

Mike
Thanks for that. Last point. Is the transfer quality as good as the UK or US versions. I have heard that the transfer of the Prisoner on to DVD is not as good as hoped.

Region 0

I have a Region 2 Toshiba (waiting for a hack - long time?) and I have seen a Region 0 DVD Box set of the Prisoner. The thing is it is advertised for a hell of a lot cheaper than Region 1 & Region 2 versions normally available.
Dumm questions.
1. Will my player play them? I think it should but is there something I don`t know about Region 0 disks.
2. Where is the catch?
Thanks
