Page 1 of Blackadder R1 - not impressed with quality

:/ Recently bought R1 Blackadder 5 disk set from from USA. Two things.
Firstly transcription to disk not that good. Is that the same for all Blackadder box sets (R1& R2) cos master video tapes not that good? Or have I just bought a duffer?
Secondly picture seems to be smaller, more focused in. Is this cos it is taken from USA TV which is not the same as ours?
Can anybody help

I`ve got the R2 4-disc boxset and the picture quality is quite good considering it`s 80`s video. Couldn`t really comment on the picture size without comparing the 2 side-by-side

The R2 version has none of these. I`ve read the reviews on Amazon.com and found no complaints with the picture quality, so I guess that`s how they were when they was broadcasted.
