RE: 7

Just to add to bytemasters comments....

Unit Works well. Nice easy menus. The images are better if the resolution is closer to the resolution of the unit... My divx movie was spot on. My higher resolution images look like they would shown on a TV (you know what I mean).
The USB connection worked fine with a stick, but I could not get it to work with my laptop portable drive. Whether a powered external unit would work I dont know.
But all in all for the money its worth it, until something better comes along next week for cheaper : (

RE: 7" Digital Picture Frame

The Make is Texet ??? Looks nice though. If you can wait until tomorrow I will give you my review. Else Just get one, try it, and if no good, take it back. :)

RE: 7" Digital Picture Frame

Forgot to add... High Spec TFT LCD Screen with 720x480 resolution (not the 400x230 thats about the same price.)

7" Digital Picture Frame

The local ASDA store in Telford has a 7" Digital Picture Frame for £39.99.
Includes power adaptor. Supports SD,MS,MMC and USB(Hopefully any external device, not just sticks). Best Price I`ve seen.

Gillette Alternative

There has been a lot of interest in the free Gillettes ( I participated myself). Not technically a bargain, because the price is low to start off with. The bargain is this cost difference against the Gillette.

Asda do their own powered version. The razor is about half the price of the gillette and the blades are almost a third. I got mine when they were on offer (even cheaper again). Anyway IMO the shave is almost as good as the gillette at a fraction of the price, and those blade replacements arent quite as painfull.

Bargain, you decide.

Cheap Printer

I have just noticed in my local (Telford) ASDA, they are selling the Lexmark Photo Printer P915 for £49.97. It has a COLOUR screen for review etc and a multi card reader.
I am not familiar with this printer, so I have no idea as to how good it is, but for £50.00 for these features, seems like a bargain to me.

RE: ASDA Deals

Sorry, the brand is Dual (my mistake) . Since posting this, someone in my office has bought one. They came up as £99 at the till (still a good buy), and they honoured it as the large sign states £69.

ASDA Deals

My local Asda store(Telford) has some good deals at the moment...

Dbrand H9713 DVD Recorder £69.96 (it says DVD +RW and R/RW ??)
Relysis 15" LCD TV (Can be used as a monitor) £199
17" Widescreen version of above £229
DBrand 26" LCD TV around £400 if my memory serves me correctly.

Although I have a DVD recorder this seems like a bargain for those with a tight budget. Possibly the cheapest around.

RE: Tesco CDRs and DVDs

Compatibility....

I too had some problems with them being fine on my PC, but then playing on a DVD player had some jitters. Slowed the writing speed down, everything OK.

Hope this helps.

Adrian

RE: Tesco CDRs and DVDs

Sorry Nick,

They are not printable. Light Silver in Colour. Minimal text, small `Tesco` at the top.

RE: Tesco CDRs and DVDs

They are manufactured by CMC (CMC MAG.AE1).

I havent actually tried one yet, but based on compatibility tests they scored slightly better that the Ritek G05, so sounds good to me.

RE: Liteon 5005 £109.99 at Index

I dont know If I have a problem with my LIteon. I also use the Datawarite yellow, whilst they are not finalised, they work fine, but when I finalise them, they skip every so slightly every 20 seconds or so. If I play a DVD that has been recorded on these discs from another source, there is no problem. Assumption, It`s not the discs, it must be the finalise process, has anyone else had similar issues. I also have issues with finalising a -RW, it says to change disc when I attempt to do this.

RE: Liteon 5005 Problem

I have a liteon 5005 which I am quite happy with. One problem though..
Despite using approved TDK DVD-RW disk, everytime I go to finalise it says to change the disk. Liteon say to apply the latest firmware which I have. Any Ideas ?

Battery Bargain ?

I`m not sure if this constitutes a bargain, but here goes....

I`d like to start by saying that `I accept no responsibility for damage or loss by following any of the information below !`

I`m sure many or you like me use rechargeable batteries. Saves loads of money and is nice to the environment. I recently bought a Charger which stated that it recharged Alkaline batteries. I must say I was slightly sceptical, but it does appear to work. Unfortunatley only AA and AAA`s. I thought to myself, I wonder if Alkaline PP3`s could be recharged ? I placed a PP3 Alkaline battery into my STANDARD UniRoss Battery Charger choosing the Metal option and hey presto in 5 hours a fully re-charged Duracell 9V Alkaline battery. Appears to work for AA and AAA`s in the standard charger as well. I dont know if this is safe or just something they dont publicise.
I just thought I would pass this on, if you no longer need to to buy rechargeable replacements for all your alkaline batteries, isnt that a bargain ?

HP 4mp Camera + Memory Card + Photograph Printer £99

Argos online seem to have a promotion which does not show in the lists, enter the following codes to get them both for £99

Printer - 6700373
HP 4mp Camera - 5602764

The camera is reduced to 19.99 for some reason.

Nice xmas present for someone, I`m sure !

Happy Christmas to All you Bargain Finders, thanks for all the links !

Pacific 1002 - Multi Region(With Hack),VCD,MP3 £85.00

Does the lot !

See threads for hack

Macrovision

I am new to this forum, but read a lot about macrovision and enabling / disabling. I gather this is copy protection stuff. I use the following method to make backups of my dvd`s ( any scart source) and it works a treat.

I have successfully backed up my dvd`s using this process.

Pre-Requirments...

Multi scart Adaptor £9.99 from Argos this has 3 inputs (A,B,C) and 1 Output.
This model I purchased allows transfers between inputs.
e.g. there are two button selectors one for the output source, which
enables multiple scarts in, to one scart out.
The other selector has options for A-B,B-C,A-C. These options in effect potentially connect A,B,C together.
Put the DVD in A and connect your video to B, and select the A-B button.

Video...

My video has two scarts at the rear and AV in front. My unit allows input from all these sources.
The Scart1 connection which is normally used as the output to the adaptor (B). can be set via the video remote control to be an input.
When in the correct position on the DVD, press record as normal.

You can now watch the dvd while backing it up !

I do not know how macrovision works, but all I can say is that with this setup I can backup dvds even with units that have macrovision enabled. It may be something to do with the way the pins are connected inside the adpator ??

Pacific 1002 Multi Region Hack

Ensure Region 2 DVD is in the Player

>1. Press "setup"

>2. Press "1" for region 1 or press "2" for region 2...press "7" for bypass
>Region code.

>3. Press "PAUSE/STEP"

>4. Press "previous"

>5. Press "next"

>6. Press "setup"

Hope this Helps

P.S. for the previous and next buttons, I used the ¦<< and >>¦.
Someone else tried the left and right on the navigation buttons and said it worked also. ( I have not tried that)

Although Branded Pacific, I believe the 1002 is not from the same manufacturer as the 750 hence the 8421 trick does not work here.
