RE: 20

talkshop,

I have so far had from skybuy delivered with little or no problems

JVC 28" prologic TV & Stand £209.50 (a bargain)
Akai 21" TV & Stand £74.99
Maxim Progressive scan DVD Player £24.99
Sony 5.1 Digital Headphones £160.00
Samsung VHS/DVD 5.1 with RDS tuner £175.00

I don`t think you`ll be able to find these cheaper anywhere else delivered!

As I said in the skybuy thread I think it`s just sour grapes on your behalf....

I've even bought the 10 dvd`s for £11.99 now down to £9.99 and got enjoyment out of the Stargate DVD last night on my panny ae500!

I have still to come one 28" Toshiba TV and two Toshiba 15" LCD`s with progressive Scan input including free DVD player with 102 films. Where oh where can you get these items any cheaper?

talkshop why do you still try to rubbish these unmistakeable bargains?

RE: Very cheap TV`s going fast

talkshop I could call you a lot more than cynical!

I have so far bought a JVC model AV28R25EKS including stand for 209.50 which had a retail price of 650.00. Since this I have bought a DVD player (multiregion) for 25 pounds and a 21" Akai TV with stand for 74.99. I have also got a Toshiba 28" model 28W33B for 150 pounds and a pair of surround Sony headphones for 160. the cheapest I`ve seen these for was 360 pounds. All this including free delivery....

I am very pleased with my huge BARGAINS from skybuy alothough their CS leaves a lot to be desired!

I spent far too long deliberating on the Samsung SP42W4HBX widescreen RPTV for 600 notes and it went out of stock and the same for the JVC recordable DVD!

Also they had a Toshiba projector for 499 which was a huge bargain but not too sure how many people who ordered got one

My parents will be happy with the JVC TV, no Brthday or Xmas presents for the next few years though... My MIL will be over the moon with her Toshiba 28" too.

Of course talkshop you have to be quick to catch the bargains :). Is it sour grapes because you missed out?

RE: Money off vouchers - Redoute.co.uk

can`t use them more than once

RE: Anyone having a problem getting their £2 introductory Splash discount?

Wouldn't bother with this bunch. They charged my card for £40+ but only sent me one game (GC Nightfire). I am still waiting for the other, just over a month so far and I don`t even think they`ve refunded the money for the items they couldn`t honour... They also applied my discount code to an item they wouldn`t send (pricing error) and would not take it off one of the GC Nightfire they did send. A really shocking company. I have Trading Standards involved. Splash told them they were having difficulty refunding onto my card. Kinda strange seeing they took the money on the day of order!!!!!

Steer clear

RE: Bound £2.99 with voucher at splash

give splash a miss they are crap (still owe me around £40 from 3 weeks ago). Sent me one GC game and charged me full price even though I used a discount code for £2 off (the deducted from another title that they didn`t send).

CS useless etc etc etc do a search, and avoid

RE: PC World DVD+RW`s at £15 for 25

I went into PC World on Wednesday and bought two packs PC line DVD+RW priced up on display as 29.99 down from 59.99 took them to the till and saw the buy one get one free come up on the till. I went back in on Thursday and when scanned 59.98 so I left them.

This is what I think has happened:- PC world had the disks priced at 59.99 buy one get one free prob ran for a while. Then they could advertise one pack as being half price i.e. was 59.99 now 29.99!!! But what someone forgot to do was take the buy one get one free off the tills and therefore bargaindacious, but it`s now been flagged and the BOGOF has been taken off.

Just wished I`d bought a few more on Wednesday, but pretty pleased I`ve got some, cheers to the OP.

RE: 50% off closing down sale - Powerhouse today only, cash sales only

I was in my local Homebase (St.Albans) on Friday morning (8am). I was just feeling chuffed as I`d purchase a cambridge table and eight fold-a-way lydhurst wooden chairs (buy three get one free) + 10% off promo for a total of £116.93. When I heard mutterings about PowerHouse (also in Homebase). I went over and put my name down (a big queue was forming). Went to the cashpoint got out 250 notes, went back to the store and got a dyson hover down to £135, a coffee machine £75, two irons £20 and £15, a sylish toaster £15 and a foot spa for £5 including 50% off!!! Would have bought a plasma a fridge and a washing machine if I wasn`t limited by the cash in hand factor and not having enough space in the car....

But what a day :)

Thought I`d share it with you

RE: cheap digital camera with LCD for £30 from Novatech

Sold out the other day, not a bad camera though

RE: DV Camcorder £99.50. One for the kiddies ??

CCL Computers are selling it for £89.83 INCLUDING £5.50+Vat delivery. The cheapest I`ve seen it for :-

http://catalog.cclcomputers.co.uk/acatalog/

Compact Flash 512Mb 3.3-5V 2 year G`tee (Lynx / Cougar) £139.45 including delivery! I wonder if this will work with the DV2? Can be got from the following link :-

http://www.valuemedia.co.uk/compact_flash.htm

Can`t be bad. I`ll be buying my from Jessops, as I get a 7.5% discount there. Works out slightly more expensive than CCL but have the option to return it easily if this don`t pan out!

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

anyone got any suggestions?

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

Well tested using the scart adaptor and :-

on scart one black & white, however

on scart two colour

didn`t test the tv`s scart three

tried it on my newest 20" upstairs and the colour is nearly coming through, you can see a flicker of colour every now and again. i have ordered a s-video to composite video cable from CPC for £3.95incVAT. I`m hoping this will work. Any experts out there to tell me otherwise?

Cheers

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

Thanks for your help RichardH. I will try tonight but I think it will be ok.
I have found a s-video to composite lead do you think this will do the trick (from CPC AV04579) 3.95 inc VAT.

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

anyone else got any ideas?

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

Thanks RichardH, I have used beyond HiFi before an excellent company

Though I think my problem is to do with the scart adaptor not being able to handle the s-video signal rather than a NTSC problem as my newer portable has NTSC cababilities.

RE: Black & white picture using scart lead

And yes these are colour portable TV`s!

Black & white picture using scart lead

I have a Fujitsu Siemens P2020, when I link it up to my TV to play DVD`s using the s-video out and stereo out jack via a scart adapter (little thing with s-video/audio left and right). I can only achieve black and white on my two portables upstairs (one being brand new). However if I plug it directly into my 32" Philips downstairs using the s-video socket on the telly (no scart adapter) it displays perfectly in glorious colour. I bought my adapter from CPC only paying a couple of quid. I have been told that I could order a cable from svideo.com but they are in the US and charge $30 plus shipping. Can anyone recommend somewhere in the UK?

Thanks for your anticipated help

RE: Buying DVD player/laptop from the States

I want a fujitsu siemens P2110 or P2020 laptop little thing that will double nicely as a portable dvd palyer. The only thing is they stopped selling the P2020 in the UK and the newer US model the P2110 isn`t going to be available here. So I will need to import one unless someone out there wishes to sell their P2020/P2110 to me?

Anyway it`s developed a fault where by it gets nearly to the end of a film and then the picture starts sticking (the unit makes a nosie like a hard drive search) If you leave the unit off for a while (an hour or so) and then play the film it works playing the section it got suck on. It`s bloody anoying!!

Anyone got any ideas. I`ve use a DVD cleaning CD but still no joy. It seems to only affect reading when the player is warmed up.
