Page 1 of 50% off closing down sale - Powerhouse today only, cash sales only

As reported on our General Forums earlier this week, at least 93 Powerhouse stores are expected to close at the end of business today, as the company has gone into administration.

Everything is 50% off, but apparently they are only accepting cash sales - I`d personally be very wary of this as you know the company are going under, so what happens if something goes wrong ? You won`t be able to claim money back from your credit card company. Be very careful out there, people.

Also, spare a thought for Forum visitor Ratopall who will, presumably, lose his job at some stage, if the company isn`t bought out :(

Missed that news as I was in France.

But bloody hell, I always thought powerhouse/scottish power was one of the better retailers - although I suppose should have seen this coming when I went to buy something a couple of months ago and they tried the hard sell on credit and extra warrenty.

I got my Hi-Fi / 5.1 surrond system from them as well, at a bargain £250 (at the time)

I went to the local one in Barrack rd Christchurch (Nr Bournemouth) & EVERYTHING is full price. It is cash only & no refund if there is a problem. The manager (Ha Ha) said it was only 93 stores that are having the 50% off & none were in our area. I went into the argument that people won`t buy with CASH FULL price & no Guarantee with a shop that was possibly going down, & he said they do & I`d have to take it or leave it. I`m happy to say I only bought one thing from them about 5 years ago & when it went wrong their after sales was so bad I would never buy from them again unless there was a very special offer. Oh there was NO decent stock there either. A good deal of the shelves were empty.

according to the guy at the Doncaster branch (which also doesent have this 50% sale), the Medowhall one has also had its 50% stuff `held` by the receivers :-(

check before you make that trip.

Do you think the recievers want to keep all the kit for themselves. 50% from customers is I think better than what they will get at auction, or from a "bankrupt stock" purchase company.

Either that or they will open up again in a couple of weeks.
