RE: What, afraid I may win, or just do as you and try to get xp???

Hi dispater
Sorry that you still seem to be upset, though for the life of me i can`t understand why :/ , it is only a bit of fun after all.
Having said that, i will take your belief that i am lying seriously:

Quote:
I`m sorry but i don`t buy that "only in my range" as for 7000 xp, you have to have had a minumum of 350 fights, and there aren`t that many days on the life of your gremlin nor "people in your range" to account for all of that

As you yourself later point out, i have actually had over 400 fights (i`ve way too much time on my hands :D ), and i believe that my wins / losses record of approx 50/50 shows that i have fought as many gremlins below me as above.

I can honestly say that i can not remember challenging a gremlin 50 league places above me, and in fact i would be suprised if i challenged as many as half a dozen gremlins 20 places above me. Certainly i sought out gremlins with low strength, but they`re much easier to find than you seem to think.

I`m in danger of taking this way too seriously myself now! :D

Best of luck

market.

RE: What, afraid I may win, or just do as you and try to get xp???

I wasn`t thinking about xp (you get 23 xp for winning a bout over 20 rounds whatever your opponents standing), i was thinking about the points that determine league position. I`ve accepted all challenges this evening and will see what happens to my league points tomorrow. :D
Could a Mod clarify whether or not you do lose league points by accepting challenges from gremlins with low xp please? :)

RE: What, afraid I may win, or just do as you and try to get xp???

Ooh! I can`t believe i`ve (among others) been the topic of conversation & i didn`t even know about it :D For what it`s worth i`ve been going on this rule: Quote:
1 point deducted for every 30 stat points you are over your opponent`s gremlin after the first 300
(note that the minimum XP for each fight is now 1 regardless of what happens)

That last one may seem confusing, but if you have 100/100/100 and you challenge someone who is 200/200/200 then it will have no effect on either of you.

However if someone is 400/400/400 and they challenge you (or you them) then their XP will be deducted using the following formula:

((400 + 400 + 400) - 300 - (100 + 100 + 100)) / 30 = minus 20 XP

Which, if i`m reading it right, means that i actually lose points for accepting challenges from gremlins with very low xp.
I would also like to say that i`ve never used the tactic of challenging gremlins higher in the league just to gain high xp, i`ve always challenged those fairly close to me in the league (cos when it comes down to it, i want to win fights, not lose)
Anyway, sorry if i`ve offended you by refusing your challenges. :)

RE: Did I do this wrong or is it my TV

Wolliwuk, you haven`t got the player set to S-video instead of RGB have you? This would give black and white pictures.

RE: MovieTyme???

Just to cover themselves mate: )

Must have made over 50 orders with them, and no complaints whatsoever.

RE: Itchi the Killer - anywhere I can get it other than

RE: DVD, TV, CONNECTION PROBLEMS.

Does your VCR have audio ouputs?
If so you can connect this to you system, just make sure your VCR is set to the same channel you`re watching.

RE: DVD, TV, CONNECTION PROBLEMS.

Is there anywhere in the menu that you can select tv rather than DVD?

Are you using a fully wired SCART lead?

Are there audio inputs on the system, have you tried them?

Good luck.

RE: Columbo plus other tv offers £6.99 @play.com

Loads of newer stuff there too, inc:

Spaced S2 £8.99
Black Books (not that it interests me) £8.99
Alan Partridge £11.99
Young Ones (if you can tolerate the audio cuts) £9.99
The New Statesman, Rising Damp, Porridge,Fawlty Towers are also there.

RE: freerecordshop.com and there filth

Well, i`ve seen people recommend them on another forum, but it doesn`t seem to be a secure site. There`s no way i`ll order until that changes.

RE: Equilibrium DVD

I used to use Amazon.ca quite a bit, but since Christmas they`ve been soooooooooooooo slooooooooooooooow. Movietyme are the only other e-tailer on that list that i regularly use.

RE: Ichi: The Killer from Movietyme

Nope, got mine about a week after it was released (though i did order it in October). Try e-mailing Craig, or posting on their own forum.

RE: Teletext - S-VHS??

MicoMan, sorry i haven`t replied to your e-mail.
I`ve been on leave for 10 days, & now i`m back at work, my e-mail isn`t working :( Anyway, let me know if you`re still having problems.

Mark.

RE: Teletext - S-VHS??

Sorry for the lateness of my reply (i haven`t visited this forum since i last posted). I tried both SVHS tapes and VHS in ET mode, and although SVHS was very slightly better, neither were good enough. Although i use an indoor aerial, i get a very good signal here (close to Crystal Palace transmitter), i was just commenting that the effect on the recording, was similar to what you would get with poor reception. When i watch subtitles/Teletext direct off air, there are no such problems.
I`ll see if i can find the manual, incase i`m doing something wrong, and have another bash!

RE: Teletext - S-VHS??

I checked my Panasonic 830, and have to say i was pretty disappointed. Letters were missing just like when you have poor reception.

RE: Teletext - S-VHS??

If i remember, i`ll check this afternoon.

RE: They DVD

There was a film released last year called They (check IMDB), but i don`t think it has been released yet.

RE: Goriest moment in a film ???

Watched Irreversible yesterday, and have to say the scene involving the fire extinquisher is the most shockingly realistic gore i`ve seen in years.

RE: Argos & Futurama : now being honoured : 1 per customer !

Mine turned up this morning as well. As you said, worth the wait : )

RE: Sound Problems with Philips TV

The only thing i can think of, is to make sure you have the spatialiser turned off (this is supposed to give the effect of surround sound, but doesn`t). Otherwise, it sounds like the tv is faulty, sorry.

RE: Goriest moment in a film ???

Flowers Of Flesh And Blood is pretty gruesome, or if you`re looking at mainstream movies, then the first 20 mins of Saving Private Ryan is really good (even though the rest of the film is rubbish. IMHO)

RE: Jackass Question

Slightly off topic, but does anyone own the Steve-o dvds? Are they as good as Jackass?
Cheers.

RE: can you name the film?

Or Grand Slam, starring Adolfo Celi?

RE: can you name the film?

How about The Connection, Precious jewels or most likely Jack Of Diamonds?

RE: Hero: The greatest HK movie ever?

I can confirm that it is a fantastic film. I haven`t enjoyed a film so much in ages.
