BUFFY etc DVD REVIEWERS
Why do some reviewers on this site insist on talking crap - Sue Davies (Once More, With Feeling) and Dicanio (Buffy Season 4), for instance. Both say in their reviews thatBuffy TVS is shot on video - bollocks! It`s on film and has been since day one.
And in Rik Booth`s "Some Mothers Do `Ave Em" reviews - " widescreen would have been nice". How can you present a program in widescreen that was shot on 4:3???
Why not leave the technical aspects of the dvd`s to people who know what they`re talking about.

I`ve just read your review of "Once more, with feeling" and although I agree with most of your views, I`d like to point out to you (and anybody else who`s read it) that Buffy has never, ever, ever been shot on video.

i noticed the diagonal lines as well - turning off digital sound in the setup menu seems to cure it. i could do this as i don`t have a surround sound set-up as yet.
Argos Daewoo Alert!
in case anyone is interested, the daewoo player in the new Argos catalogue is the same machine as the Scan SC 2000 - with two differences:
it has only one scart socket although the Argos catalogue says it has two
the hidden menu hack the SC 2000 uses doesn`t work on the Daewoo
(maybe it`s a different combination)

yes, i forgot to try it in "no disc" mode
oops!
sadly, this machine also refused to output RGB from the scart and the picture quality is just as poor - back to Argos!

the fragmenting and thick bands are not due to poor mpeg quality
i have tested several discs on the scan player side by side with a philips machine and several movies which look very poor on the scan look fine on the philips
Update - 8th August - Daewoo Alert!
