Buffy DVD questions

RWB (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 14th May 2003, 16:20

Calling all Buffy The Vampire Slayer fans...some questions from Mr Booth as he is interested in buying the series on DVD. Any feedback much appreciated:

1) Are the first three seasons in 1.33:1, then does the video go to widescreen for season four onwards?
2) Are there four episodes per disc on season one?
3) Are there four episodes per disc on seasons two onwards, aside from disc six, which has only two episodes?
4) I enjoyed the first season...will I enjoy the remainder?
5) Where is the cheapest to get the R2 versions of all six seasons?
6) Is there a seventh season?
7) If so, when?
8) Any other things you fanboys want to say?

Thanks Sue. The reason for the strange questions (number of episodes per discs, for example) is that I was setting the boxsets up on my DVD Profiler collection and I needed to know! :)

I will go with R2 thanks, although the R1 is good at merely £30. Yeah, if I do go for Buffy - and enjoy it - I may take a look at Angel.

Nothing can beat Buffy... except Angel, S2 & S3 are my favourite Angels, the only thing that changes with Buffy as S2 progresses is that not all the episodes are standalone, the become more arc based until the end of S3 where virtually every episode has followed on since. There`s also the crossovers between Buffy and Angel plus there`s so many references and in-jokes you can watch them many times and still find things in them.

-Season 4 onwards is widescreen.
-Season 1 has 4 eps on each disc.
-Season 2 onwards has 4 eps on discs 1,2,4,5 and 3 eps plus extras on discs 3 and 6
-If you enjoyed the first season, it was far from the best and all the other season with the exception of season 6 are better so you will enjoy them. Season 6 is probably the same quality as season 1 in terms of content.
-CD wow are doing good deals on seasons 2-5 I think its £40 each. Use discount links that are doing rounds on Bargain Buckets forum to get them even cheaper.
-There is a 7th season on but its only on sky at the moment. Its currently down to the last 5 episodes.
-Seasons 2,3,7 are the best. 4 and 5 arent far behind.
-If you havent already seen Angel, start watching it as it is brilliant. It is a little different than Buffy in its a little more serious and darker.
-The soundtracks ROCK!!!
-Season 3 watch out for Faith as she kicks ass.

"Season 3 watch out for Faith as she kicks ass. "

Surely you mean arse?

As for Angel being better than Buffy, have to disagree - it started well, but the latest series on sky is appaling - especially his son, Fred and the amazing expanding David Boreanaz. Fat bloke.

Can`t agree on the fact that Angel is not a good series, season 4 has been one of the best yet, in fact I would say it has had the edge on Buffy this year. I would agree that Connor is annoying but then I think he is meant to be and all credit for Vincent Kartheiser for giving it his all. Buffy Season 7 has also been good, but not quite as good as Angel and I would actually place it lower than Seasons 2, 3 and 5 of the series but above Seasons 1, 4 and 6. Shame that it is ending but I think it is time for it to go before it outstays its welcome.

I`ve just read your review of "Once more, with feeling" and although I agree with most of your views, I`d like to point out to you (and anybody else who`s read it) that Buffy has never, ever, ever been shot on video.
