RE: American pie 2

yes it`s the region 2 version

American pie 2

I can`t seem to find the "original casting tapes" feature on american pie 2
does anyone know where it is?

RE: Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?

To bi-wire the centre speaker, do you just run two sets of cables from each terminal of the centre channel output?. Does this give the same results as using the main a+b output when bi-wiring the fronts?

RE: Bi Wiring on £600 system - worth it? Does it really work that well?

I have the yamaha rxv620rds and I have bi wired my diamond 8.2`s.
I did notice a slight difference in bass/treble perfomance and timing which did justify the extra cost of cable. If you have main a+b speaker outlets on your amp use them both to bi-wire your speakers. Personally I wouldn`t bother bi- wiring the centre.

I have linked my dvd player to my amp via a coaxial cable and it sounds good. I haven`t tried an optical cable so I wouldn`t know wheather is any better but I don`t think there is a massive difference between the two.

New Speakers

Generally, how long should you run new speakers in before you start turning them up loud, and do they sound better once they`ve run in?

RE: THE BEST PICTURE QUALITY ? (Be honest)

Try the sony dvpns 900 with a RGB only scart from QED it`s stunning!

RE: HOME CINEMA PACKAGES - ADVICE ON 3 BELOW !?

I would say that the sony davs500 is the best bet. It has excellent picture quality if only s- video, and the sound is pretty good too. I would like to say though that I owed the previous system the s300 and I was really happy with it, untill I heard a good seperate system. Now I have sold my s300 and brought everything seperatly and it`s 10 times better. I know it`s more expensive but if you`re patient and buy the player first, then save hard for an receiver and two main speakers, then you can save for the effect speakers. it`s really worth doing. The quality of seperates is excellent.

just to give you an idea of my system : Sony dvp/ns 900 dvd player
Yamaha rxv 620 rds receiver
wharfedale 8.1 fronts (small room)
wharfedale diamond centre
mission m7ds rears
Hope this helps

RE: Cheap Subwoofwer <£150 - Any recommendations?

i`ve heard that the kef psw1000 is pretty good and you can pick it up for under £150 at most internet sites and good hifi specialists.

RE: help on bi-wiring

thanks for that. did you notice a difference when you bi-wired yours?

help on bi-wiring

I have now got a yamaha RXV620rds receiver and a pair of wharfedale diamond 8.1 speakers. As this amp can run two sets of front speakers at the same time ( main A+B ), Is it possible to bi-wire one set of front speakers by running the A side to one speaker, and the side B to the other speaker? The Wharfedales have a impendance of 6 ohm
can anyone help?

RE: which A/V amp?

The budget is about £450 to £550 I don`t really care about Pro logic 2 and not to fussed about music performance. It`s just the movie side of things that counts.

The speakers i plan to hook up is a wharfedale diamond 8/ mission m7ds combination.

which A/V amp?

I`m currently looking to buy an a/v amp. i have two in mind. the sony strdb 870 and the yamaha rxv620rds. does anyone know which is best?

RE: Advice required for surround speaker please.

i`ve always been told that you should at least keep the main fronts and the centre the same. try and find the mordaunt short centre as it will be cheaper than buying two new front speakers. as for the rears i`m currently looking at the bi-pole mission m77ds or the m7ds around £120 bi-poles give a better dispursion of sound where as traditional hi fi speakers, when used for the rear can sound too directional.

hope this helps!

RE: speakers speakers

does anyone know the difference between the m7ds and the m77ds?
the spec of them both seems the same

RE: speakers speakers

thanks for your help, i`ll go for the missions!

RE: speakers speakers

thanks for the advice. i am getting the diamond 8 centre speaker i`d take that you have it as you have the diamond 8.3`s. how does it perform?

p.s with the m7ds is it essential to sit directly in between them being they are dipoles?, because of my room layout i would be sitting directly under the left rear.

cheers for your help

speakers speakers

i`m looking at getting some speakers for my home cinema as i have a small room i`m considering the wharfedale diamond 8.1 and the diamond centre. would it ruin my system if i went for the mission 7mds instead of having to mount another pair of diamond 8.1`s on the wall?

100hz televisions.

I have a Sony KV28FS60 which is a 50hz tv. When watching tv and dvd`s I find that fine edges in the picture flicker. The main things that flicker are strippey shirts, office blinds and fine detail in background shots ect. Is this normal for 50hz and is this cured by buying a 100hz t.v ?( kv28fx65)( my dvd player is a Sony DVP NS900)

RE: Surround virgin seeks decent speaker package for great audio experience...

hi, thinking of getting the wharfedales diamond package myself. they are not magnetically shielded though so be carefull. usually your telly has it`s own speakers at the side these help to shield your telly from unshielded speakers any way
