RE: 2 DVD`s for £12.99 at HMV...Warner & EV Back Catalogue

Seriously, this is terrific offer from HMV especially if you are into cinema classics.
I`ve just bought -
Rebel Without a Cause (restored print)
Billy Liar (the Canal Plus edition in widescreen - great transfer!)
Maltese Falcon (with 50 min. Bogart doc.)
Rio Bravo
Magnum Force (Special Edition)
Strangers on a Train (with UK and Hollywood versions of the film)

I wouldn`t have paid full price for these titles, but at £6.50 each they are a steal.

Let`s hope this is sign of even cheaper prices to come!!

RE: Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition - 2 disc (R2) £10:99 at MVC

Terminator 2 UE is currently in the BOGOF HMV sale, didn`t look to see if they had it marked at £24.99 or £19.99 but either way prob the best price if you match with something else of good value (the Cape Fear box set for instance)

RE: Metropolis 2 quid at bensonsworld inc. p+p

It seems that they have just put it up by £2 - I bought it an hour ago for £2 but now it`s showing the price as £4.

Still it is a reasonable transfer of a stunning film - well worth £4 inc p+p

Bond Bargains - you`ll never guess where!

Further to my posting on the Dvd Forums, here is a repeat of a bargain that I found on The Music Store Web site (www.the musicstore.co.uk) (yes, its a pseudonym for Britannia).

Basically, they are selling most Bond dvd`s in their sale for under a tenner, which I believe is the cheapest on the web for UK discs.

There are also some other bargains on the site including The Third Man Sp Ed, The Wizard of Oz Sp Ed and Some Like it Hot Sp Ed for £13.32 each. As all are sale items, they unfortunately don`t count towards the dreaded commitment clause.

RE: HMV Sale - Some Gems

I agree that the extras seem ok on the Charade disc, especially at such a low price and I was looking forward to listening to the commentary track. But in all honesty the quality of the transfer is very low on this disc with jaggies affecting the image quite badly, especially when viewed at close range.

I appreciate that the only other option is to buy the expensive Criterion version (which I probably won`t do as I don`t like the film THAT much) but as a former cinema programmer I`m more concerned with image quality than disc extras. However, I can appreciate that others might still find the disc good value if they can live with the transfer.

Now I have to decide what to exchange it for!

RE: HMV Sale - Some Gems

Oh and I also bought Charade for £7.99 but that`s going back as it is the worst DVD transfer I have ever seen - avoid at all costs

HMV Sale - Some Gems

Went into HMV yesterday, where they were stocking shelves for the new sale and picked up these -

Withnail and I - Anchor Bay Sp Ed. 9.99
Nosferatu (Herzog) - Anchor Bay 2 Disc Sp Ed. 7.99
Halloween - Anchor Bay 2 Disc Sp Ed. 9.99
2001 9.99
The Shining 9.99

There was more that I could have bought, but my credit card had to come home and put its feet up for a bit - happy shoppping!

RE: Help! Are My EzyDvd`s stuck in customs or `lost`?

Thanks for the advice - they arrived this morning with a £11 customs charge - ah well I`ll know for next time!

RE: Britannia music sale

If it`s the same as The Music Club (which I think it is) then NO they don`t count - best advice is to scour the site for cheap full price items - good luck!

Help! Are My EzyDvd`s stuck in customs or `lost`?

I ordered 5 dvd`s that were shipped two weeks ago through Ezydvd (bit of a custom`s magnet but I`ve already posted a thread on that issue) and they still haven`t showed. Looking at the other postings, I guess I should have received them by now, so what do I do next? Anyone have experience of lost dvd`s with this company?

Thanks

Chopper for £7.99 at Blockbuster

Just picked up this new DVD at Blockbuster (of all places). Its a fantastic film for those not aquainted - with tons of extras, including a disturbing commentary from the real Oz criminal - Mark `Chopper` Read.

Surely this is the only multiple murderer to record a DVD commentary!

Chop Chop.

RE: Ezy Dvd customs help needed!!

thanx for the link - missed it this time - looks like customs will get me - I`ll know for next time though!

RE: Best Bargain Ever - Vote Now!!!

I took my screen shot into PC World to get the Mummy Box Set, but picked up the wrong piece of paper, which had the normal Mummy DVD on it instead ( They were so nice, that they prob would have done it otherwise!! Doh!!). Still `The Mummy` and `Erin Brock` for £9.98 wasn`t bad.

Best Bargain Ever - Vote Now!!!

I`m fairly new to this bargain hunting malarkey and was wondering what I`ve missed out on over the years so my question is -

What has been the best DVD bargain that you ever had ?

Ezy Dvd customs help needed!!

help, i`ve placed a single order for 5 dvd`s through ezydvd in australia .After reading a thread on this site 10 mins later I e-mailed them to request my order be sent in 3 parcels to avoid customs duty (they are so quick they had already confirmed shipping within 20 mins) In case I didn`t make it in time, anyone know how much duty I might have to pay and what`s the best option next time ?
thanx

RE: Avengers Box Sets 2 for £25 at HMV

Both - I bought mine in store but just checked the web site and they are online too - no sign of any other seasons though maybe its just a way of getting you to fork out full price for the rest!

Avengers Box Sets 2 for £25 at HMV

The title says it all really. These normally go for £25 each, but the 1967 Season box sets 1 and 2 (which feature some of the best episodes ever) can be bought as a Buy One - Get One Free deal.
So a bit of a bargain if, like me, the idea of Emma Peel in a black catsuit makes you kind of sweaty, if you know what I mean!

Simpsons Box Set Bargain @ cd-wow

cd-wow.com have a small selection of dvds all, it seems, at the SAME PRICE of £14.99, which is a bloody good deal if you`re looking for the 3-disc Simpsons Season One Box Set. (Apocolypse Now Redux is also worth considering)
