Ezy Dvd customs help needed!!

showscanner (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 5th March 2002, 02:47

help, i`ve placed a single order for 5 dvd`s through ezydvd in australia .After reading a thread on this site 10 mins later I e-mailed them to request my order be sent in 3 parcels to avoid customs duty (they are so quick they had already confirmed shipping within 20 mins) In case I didn`t make it in time, anyone know how much duty I might have to pay and what`s the best option next time ?
thanx

Getting hit by customs from EzyDvd is hit and miss in my experience.
If sent in a Stiff Jiffy Bag style envelope never been caught (even with 3 disks). However the value on the customs declaration is always lower than the real price, seems to be average price of 1 disk ! so may explain why it gets through.
But a box set came in a small cardboard box which was also insured and was caught. Possibly because this had the full face value on the label.
Unfortunately with 5 disks you may well get caught.
