like a couple before me i also own a schneider dvd 855.and no i dont wish i had paid more. i have been impressed with the unit. dont forget though it was originally £150. luckily i got it at the reduced price. i have worked in retail for a long time and i learnt that "better branded machines" are not worth the price increase. with that many clones about what are you really getting anyway. its true you pay for the name. i have a lot of friends who bought more expensive models and wished they hadnt. certain well known brands wont accept vcd,mp3 no hacks...WHY BOTHER? some argue about 5.1 surround. for the difference you could buy a dedicated amp. also the likes of schneider sell a surround unit and player similar to the 855 for less than £300. for the average user(like me.) i dont think you can notice a hundred pounds difference.

i also emailed schneider. only once about the upgrade due to having lip sync probs i included my name and addresson the message. it was about ten days ago. i got no reply. however today the cd arrived, posted from manchester. therefore phoning the manchester number given may be quicker. still not bad this time of year.

i also recieved the 855 from my wife for christmas. i have to say that now all the problems,eg lip sync are sorted i am more than impressed with the unit. mine runs through a pro logic panasonic tv and sounds good. it does however sound better when through my pioneer pro logi amp. i dont know about the bush but ocasionally they come up with good kit at the right price.
the up grade can be found by going to this address:-

this when typed exactly will ask you to download. do this and then unzip. it will throw three upgrade files. i had trouble getting out the upgrade and had to visit the isobuster site. isobuster is an extracting program like winzip. download and run. using iso buster unzip the largest upgrade file(the second one) this will then uncover a file BANK30.ROM. this is the upgrade file. if you dont have a cdrw save to floppy and find someone who has. i used Nero to send this file to disk(bank30.rom) this is then placed into your dvd player. full instructions for upgrade can be found on readme file on 1st unzip. any probs let me know. sounds complicated but not when you get started.

forget my last. matbe i am not as thick as i thought.
an earlier entry refered to a program ISOBUSTER. i downloaded this and it extracted the file. i then did a normal burn (drag and drop) in nero, made the disk and updated my player. easy when you know how.

i downloaded the image from the address. the only prob was when unaced there were three upgrades all different. neither nero or clone cd seemed to recognise them. i know i am missing something. is there anyone out there who can take pity on someone with the lack of knowledge to complete the task and list the steps. i couldnt see the file bank30.rom.

the crack mentioned is to make the player region free.(play disks from all over the world.)
to do it.
1. turn on dvd
2.open cd drawer
3. press setup on remote
4. press right button until all way across.(should relate to passwords)
5. press button (3) four times.(this will bring up region select)
6. press right to highlight regions.
7. now select region 0
8. press enter.
9 close cd drawer.
10 your player will now be region free.

i have just got a schneider dvd 855 and i have lip sync probs. please can you tell me how to get the upgrade cd. i have tried schneider uk web but its under construction. also tried ynohtna[at]kuredienhcs but no longer exists.
please help.
p.s. has anyone found secret menu 2 yet
