RE: CyberHome ADL528

ok, thanks richard. I was intending to plug some creative DTT2200 5.1 speakers in it. They have built in amp. i believe as they are intended for pc sound card.

Thanks again,

Harvey

Update:

Just been thinking, the creative speakers (which i dont have yet) surely have the 3.5mm plugs (like headphone type) to plug into the sound card. Looks like ill have to do a bit of wire chopping and put the connectors that the dvd player uses on them.

RE: Can I turn my region 2 DVd players in a multi-region one?

It might help if you actually tell us what dvd player you have. :)

Have you checked the `Multi-region hacks` page under INFO?

CyberHome ADL528

Ok, i have finally (i think) decided on which dvd player to buy. And this is it - only £99.99 from richer sounds. It has quite a few features, plays cdr`s, and mp3`s. It also has a built in dolby 5.1 decoder, but just a dts output, not decoder, which isnt a surprise for a £100 player. It is also multi-region from the box.

Has anyone had experience with this player? Is the picture and sound quality anygood? Also, can it play RCE region 1 dvd`s?

Umm, i think thats it, anyone has any comments on this player (or the 2 channel non dolby-decoder 228 version) would be appreciated.

Thanks;

Harvey

RE: PowerDVD XP4

so dvd genie does change the region without running the powerdvd counter. Cheers Elephant stone - i will now buy some region 1 dvd`s in confidence.

Sony DVPNS300 region hack?

anyone know how you can make this multi-region. Richer sounds have it for £150, or a multiregion version for £180. Im thinking if its possible to do it myself it will save me £30.

The other question, is the Cyber Home ADL528 any good. It seems to have the full works, DTS, dolby, CD-r and MP3 playback and all for £100, but is the picture and sound quality actually any good?

Cheers;

Harvey

PowerDVD XP4

I have power dvdxp4, and want to use it for multi region, but im worried about the so called `region lock` that happens after 5 region changes. Someone said this only happens if you insert the different region dvd`s in, but if you use dvdgenie first to change the region, the counter is not activated. Can anyone back this up/deny it, or know of a way to reset the counter?

Thanks;

Harvey

Budget DVD player

Hi, im looking into buying a budget dvd player. It has to be able to easily be multiregion, and preferably play cd-rs etc. And also, preferably DTS, dolby surround at least.

I was looking at the LG DVD4710. It has DTS, and is hackable, and only £99.99 (+ VAT - so < £120), but it doesnt play cd-rs apparently.

Next up was Sharp DV740H. This is a little pricier, 129.99 + vat. But what put me off is it looks hard to hack, especially as i currently have no cd writer.

Could anyone give more information, possible players are Goodmans GDVD124, Philips DVD612, JVC XV-522SL. But if anyone knows of any other, better players that are not listed, then please let me know. Any help would be much appreciated.

I might decide to not worry about the cd-r playback and go for the LG, but i will wait for any comments.

Thanks;
