The Daewoo DVG9100N is now available for a rock bottom price. So I decided to pick one up. Does anybody know if any of the other Daewoo hacks will work on the 9100N??

RE: Wanted: Hack for Goldstar VM681M VHS/DVD Combo

Dear Friend,

I`m sorry to say that I don`t think there is one. I think the best thing for you to do is go to Fengtao Software`s site and purchase DVD Reigon Free. That software will unlock your PC`s DVD-ROM drive with out any dangerous side effects. I purchased it a long time ago and just upgraded to V5.02. It rocks!!

RE: Lennoxx Sound DVD Hack needed

Dear Friend,

I saw this unit on display at a CompUSA in New York City. The splash screen is the same "Three Dolphins" screen from the Mustek/Classic 2.01 firmwear. The store didn`t have the remote control laying around so I couldn`t try it for myself.

1) go to the top page of the setusp screen and use the remote to quickly input NEXT,STOP,STEP,PREVIOUS,NEXT. If this doesn`t work, below.

2) On the top page of the setup screen, press VOL +,VOL -, VOL+, VOL -. After a few presses it should say VER #N in the upper right corner. Use you cursor left/right key to set the VER # to 255. That will be zone free.

I hope this works for you. Please let me know.

Wanted: Mustek`s "Three Dolphins" firmwear

Greetings from the USA,

I`m looking for the Mustek firmwear that has the "Three Dolphins" splash screen. My Classic DVD-102 was given the Mustek DVD-V300 FW for some crazy reason. This will not allow my 102 to play MP3 CD`s! I hoping that if I put back the correct FW, it will reinstate the ability to play MP3`s. I know that the three dolphins is the correct FW for the 102 because my *first* 102 had it. Then the friggen load broke down on me, and I had to return it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mustek DVD-560 (US Classic-DVD102) Won`t play MP3 CD

Greetings from New York! I own a Classic DVD-102. It`s the North American version of the Mustek DVD-560. The unit is marked with an MP3 logo. However, I don`t know how the files should be organized on the CD.

I tried putting my MP3 files directly on the root dorectory of the CD-R. The player didn`t like it. On the next test disc I burned, I tried putting the MP3 files in a sub-directory (folder) named "root" this didn`t work eaither. I checked the manual. There is nothing in it about the playback or mastering process.

I used Ahead Nero. Set as a standard data CD in both cases (ISO Mode 1). Prehaps I need a diffrent setting in Nero?? Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,
Bill N.

RE: IS THERE A MUSTEK V562 HACK??

I think that unit is going to need the volume control trick. I know from my USA Classic DVD-102 (Mustek 560 clone), that the NEXT, STOP, STEP, PREVIOUS, NEXT trick has been taken out. Set the volume control at maximum (16) then keep presssing the volume "+" and "-" keys in sequence until you "VER #" in the upper right corner. Use the navigation keys to slew through 1 to 6, then to 255. 255 is zone free. Any unit that does not use the N.S.S.P.N. trick has firmwear above 2.01

All new hack found!! US Classic 102 / EU Mustek 560!!

Hello all,

By now, I`m sure most people are aware that the NEXT, STOP, STEP, PREVIOUS, NEXT hack doesn`t work on Classic 102 / Mustek 560 with firmwear above V2.01. However, there is a new hack! It involves using the volume keys. Seeing that the Classic / Mustek come from the factory already at maximum volume, pressing the volume up key to start the access sequence is extremely clever. Here is the URL.

http://www.dvdregionhacks.com/html/regionmods/players/m/players/mustekdvdv560.html

I was told by somebody in Flordia, that this works, but I have not tried it yet. My player`s loader broke down and I`m still waiting for a replacement unit.

According to the Mustek`s office in Livionia, Michigan, new units are coming directly from China, by ship. This is a long process because a cargo ship going to Michigan will dock a the main port in Detroit - approximately 20 miles from Livionia. This means entering the Mississippi River at the Gulf of Mexico or going up to Canada and entering the great lakes system via the St. Lawrence Seaway. All boiled down, it`s going to take a real long while. Perhaps I`ll call the Detroit, Michigan Chamber of Commerse. I`m curious as to how the ship will reach Detroit. According to the World Book Encyclopedia, using the Canada route takes twice as long.

Cheers,
Bill N. - New York

Classic / Mustek bad news: Loopholes MAY be history!

Dear Friends

Called Factory Direct Marketing in Livionia, Michigan on 1/7/02. Bad news! FDM does not repair bad units. FDM will replace bad units with a new one. Hopes of getting my original unit with the old 2.01 firmware and a new, more relyable DVD drive are now officially shot. FDM rep says new units ordered from factory in China a few days ago will take 3 weeks to 1 month to arrive in Michigan. Presume that units arriving in Michigan 4 weeks from today are rolling off assembly line *now*. IMHO, it very highly unlikely that units that fresh will have old 2.01 FW.

1) Turn on player w/ no disc inside.
2) Got to general setup menu
3) Go to front face: Quickly press - NEXT, STOP, STEP, PREVIOUS, NEXT
4) Look for LOOPHOLES menu w/ message "YOU SHOULD NOT BE HERE"

If LOOPHOLES menu on screen, your OK. If not, your in trouble.. Glad I didn`t buy more than one DVD from outside zone 1. Will keep fingers crossed and say a prayer for everybody getting factory-fresh Classic / Mustek units

Want me to let you know what happens when I try it on the unit I get?? Let me know. No bogus EM address here: senllib[at]ten.bp

RE: How Do I Disable Macrovision On The Classic 102 DVD Player From Toys R Us

Enter the setup menu.

Go to the front face and press:

NEXT
STOP
STEP
PREVIOUS
NEXT
`
This may not work on newer 102`s. My understanding is that the factory in China got wise tat people found their backdoor. Therefore, they took it out.

Hope this helps,
"The Colonel"

RE: any hack for mustek v300 please

I`m not sure this will work any more. I`ve heard reports that the factory in China has gotten wind of the fact that people know how to access their back door. The obscure brand that`s available in the USA - Classic, comes from Mustek. I`ve been told that Classic players that have firmware above 2.01 are no longer front-face hackable. I`m waiting for my Classic unit to come back from the USA distribuitor - the drive broke down. As soon as find out if I`m getting the same unit repaired or a totally new unit and get it back, I`ll post again.

Remote Control Macrovision hack for Mustek DVD-102

Hello All,

Is there a way to turn off the Macrovision on my Mustek / Classic DVD-102?? I`d hate to have to open it and install a mod-chip. Perhaps I can do it via a firmware upgrade? If somebody has a good firmware for my player, can they please let me know. I don`t own a CDR burner so I`d need somebody to make the disc for me.

Thanks,
Bill N. - New York

RE: Wanted: Hacks for USA Classic / Mustek DVD-102

Dear Friends.

Now that I have my Classic DVD-102 set to zone-free, I just need to turn off the Macrovision. There was no Macrovision option in the hidden menu I was able to access via the NEXT, STOP, PAUSE, PREVIOUS, NEXT trick. Will I need a modchip? I hope not.

Thanks

Wanted: 640 X 480 Reigon Map

Hello all,

I`m looking for a GIF or JPEG of the DVD zone map. I tried taking some of the ones out there and blowing them up, they just come out too dammed fuzzy. If you have a map that you scaned in at 640 X 480 or larger, can you please e-mail it to me.

Thank you,

German or Denmark external MacroVision killer??

I remember seeing something about a MacroVision killer form Denmark or Germany. However, I can`t remember the URL. If anybody knows of a good external macro killer that can be obtained in the USA, please let me know.

Thanks!

RE: Wanted: Hacks for USA Classic / Mustek DVD-102

Thanks!

I already found it! The Classic DVD-102 is pretty obscure, so I`ve noticed that responces to my queries on the Usenet Newsgroups has been pretty much non-existent. I`ve only seen the Classic available in the New York metro area, in only 2 stores. PC Richadrs & Sons and National Wholesale Liquidators. What parts of Europe have you seen the Mustek? I know it had to be available in the EU because when I looked at the backside of my USA Classic, I can see the 2 punch-outs in the metal where the SCART ports should be. Let me know.

RE: a sm electronics dvd hack

This is the same hack for an obscure unit called Classic DVD-102. This is a brand that`s been available in the New York metro area for a long time now. Their not flying off the store shelvs too quickly because nobody knows the brand name. The New York based P.C. Richards and Sons should have a good number of these units on hand. National Wholesale Liquidators may have limited stock.

!!Hack Found!! Classic / Mustek DVD-102

Dear Friends,

I found the hack for the Classic DVD-102, that uses the 2.01 firmware.
It`s the same exact hack from the Musek 3XX series!

1) Turn on DVD player with no disc inside.

2) Press the SETUP key on remote control.

3) Go to DVD player`s front face and quickly press the following sequence:

A) NEXT
B) STOP
C) PAUSE / STEP
D) PREVIOUS
E) NEXT

The LOOPHOLE menu only allows the user to adjust the Reigon / Zone setting.
The MacroVision anti-duplication encoding can not be turned off on the
DVD-102.

Please note: You should not be here. ;-)~

Wanted: Hacks for USA Classic / Mustek DVD-102

Dear Friends,

I`m looking for the Reigon / Macrovision hack for my Classic DVD-102. There is almost NO information about this unit on the web. I`m a complete an total newbiee, I just bought this, my first DVD player on October 25th. From the paperwork that came with the unit, I think it was also sold under the name Mustek. Does anybody know if it can be hacked?? I have no way of capturing an image of the Splash Screen so here`s a breif description: Three dolphins on the bottom with a few bubbles floating around them and DVD logo inside a big bubble is in the upper screen-right. All of this is on a blue background. Is that of any help?

Thanks,
Bill N. - New York
