Amir Khan on Sky Box office

Saw the advertisements the other day and I think the advertisements say it all.

No mention of his opponent whatsoever, just coming to Sky Box office "Khan".

Is he really a draw enough at the moment to get a big enough box office at £15 to see the fight? I know people watched out of curiosity when he was on ITV, but think a lot of those people wouldn`t even consider paying to watch a fight.

For me personally, the juries still out on him and think he may get found out if he steps up at the rate he wants to. A lot of his fights are called off when he starts little of rally of punches to the body with hardly any hitting the opponent in the head. Obviously some were rightly called with the opponent in danger but a few have been very generous calls in my opinion.

Don`t get me wrong, there`s potential with him but at the moment it`s basically the Frank Warren hype machine on him (and Khan seems to believe a lot of the hype).

Anyway I`m going off point. Is he really worth headlining a Sky Box office event at this point in his career?

I might be being a little unfair on him but for me he is a Naz 2 and i only watch to see him getting his head handed to him, Scottish lad woulda done him if the ref counted to 10 in 10 instead of the slow count and i think he is becoming more and more arrogant and frankly not that good, he has next to no defence and a dodgy chin, only a matter of time b4 he goes the way of the Prince I think :)

No. He`s a novice, still learning the trade and with only an Inter-Continental belt. I won`t be forking out £15 to watch him beat up another guy who, on paper, has a decent record but, in reality, has been fighting nobodies. I can`t believe Khan`s on Box Office - I thought they`d wait until he was challenging for a World title, not defending the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title! It`s an absurdity that the World title (WBO anyway) clash between Alex Arthur and Nicky Cook is on the undercard.

His opponent`s called Breidis Prescott - an untested KO artist from Columbia who will be far too wild and Khan will be able to pick him off with sharp counters. I wouldn`t be surprised if Khan has to pick himself up off the canvas to win, though.

I`d done a little reading on Breidis Prescott myself and apparently he`s got good power but he`s very slow and struggled to a points win in his last fight.

I want British boxers to do well, but kind of have the opinion that Khan needs to get knocked out, as it may ease the hype machine and pressure on him, although alternatively it could just kill his career.

Harrison`s on the undercard I see, hopefully he might have listened to the criticism after his comeback fight and put some pressure on in his fight as he hasn`t really got anything to lose at this point if he really believes he can get a world title fight.

I wasn`t surprised that Sky signed (ie.nicked from a terrestrial channel) Khan - but couldn`t believe they were putting it on Sky Box Office... at this stage in his career, it`s just not worth it (especially as he`s only just been fighting on free/terrestrial TV). I think Sky will be surprised at how few buys this PPV gets.

I have no problem with paying extra for international PPVs or really big fights, but can`t understand Sky`s logic here. They should have taken a leaf out of Setanta`s book (with the UFC and boxing), and put Khan on their basic subscription channel (ie. Sky Sports). I`ve been really impressed with Setanta`s boxing coverage, while Sky`s seem to be going down the toilet... they hardly show any big fights lately - and if they do, they`re usually on SBO. In fact, if I wasn`t such a big WWE fan, I`d probably cancel my Sky Sports subscription.
