It`s a shame that so few have to spoil an event so important to so many...

It`s of no surprise to any Scottish football fans, TBH. :(
They can claim `rogue elements`, but the simple fact is they have a large element of undesirables in their support.
I`m not saying there aren`t any decent Rangers` fans, that would be daft.
But the simple fact of the matter is that a large proportion (probably the majority) are from a very rough part of Glasgow (we have an office in Govan, unfortunately) and are, largely, very rough and basic people.

1st I havent seen it been reported anywhere as rioting, bbc says it was clashes with police after one of the big screens failed?

2nd im Celtic, so no reason to defend the Orks, they have a history of trouble away from home especially and have tried to sort it out, as with most clubs they have a small element of trouble makers and for Bowf to suggest because Rangers fans come from rough areas of glasgow it makes them rough and basic people is a f***ing shameful thing to say, is that the same for people from rough area`s of london? or manchester? or liverpool? just curious, Bowf ur an out and out tosser mate pure and simple, any chance to slag Scotland in general, glasgow in particular inc Rangers and Celtic and u jump at the chance, there were 100,000 fans in Manchester and there was little or no trouble till the screen failed and people with a drink in them that had been there got p***ed off, its not right but its surely understandable. They spent a lot of money getting there some of them.

The BBC report in fairness says Riot police were deployed
Quote:

Police in Manchester who came under violent attack from Rangers fans in the city for the Uefa Cup final admitted they were "stretched" by events.

Assistant Chief Constable Justine Curran said the influx of 150,000 Scottish fans was "unprecendented".

She said officers were attacked and riot police were deployed after a city centre big screen failed, adding: "I had 15 officers injured last night."

Police made 42 arrests and ambulance crews dealt with 52 cases of assault.

But city officials insisted that only a small proportion of the huge numbers of fans in the city were responsible for the disturbances and the "vast majority" were peaceful.

Violent clashes were sparked when police officers came under a "severe level of attack", ACC Curran added.

I think of more concern is someone getting stabbed inside the ground, it doesn`t say what they were stabbed with but does mention before "it is understood not to be life threatening" which means it`s probably more than just superficial.

Quote:
The clashes came after officers came under attack from a "mob", he added.

Riot police were deployed and arrests made, including six who were held after a Russian fan was stabbed inside the City of Manchester stadium.

Quote:
The Scottish Conservatives are demanding an inquiry into the policing of the final, claiming the decision to deploy riot police was an "overreaction" which may have inflamed the situation.

But Sir Richard said: "If you are going to put blame on anybody you put blame on those people for their behaviour - they have to take responsibility."

Ms Curran said officers had responded "appropriately" during what she described a "challenging" situation.

"We were stretched (during the day) but most of it was very peaceful and very happy," she added.

The general secretary of the Rangers Supporters Association, John MacMillan, said he was disappointed with the behaviour of some fans.

He added: "There is no excuse for it to be honest. From what I saw before the game there was no need for attacking paramedics and the police, it is indefensible."

They`ve cancelled the big screens for Champions League final now though. >:(

Mbilko, when are you going to understand I really don`t care what you think of me or my opinions.
I openly laugh at your persistant name calling too.

As I stated in my original email, I`m not suggesting for a second that everyone from Govan is basic and rough.
But it is a fair generalisation.
For anyone to deny it`s any other way is just a ridiculous waste of time.
You should see the security measures at our office in Govan, situated within spitting distance of Ibrox.
Proof itself that the area is incredibly rough.
Then you go to Ibrox itself and see some of the ned dregs of humanity that offer to "watch yer motor for a fiver there, big man".

Again, you`re being very naive.
Given the general chaos in these scenarios, it`s fair to assume that the coppers are only actually arresting a fraction of those involved.
So an arrest quota of 42 actually could mean hundreds rioting, maybe more.

Ill ask again, other halfs relatives are in Hounslow in london and let me tell u, that is a rough area, im sure there are loads in London, no comment on them from u? Spurs fans are all middle class prawn sandwich brigade are they? as per ur blinkers are working spectacularly

I`m not passing comment on other clubs` fans though, mbilko.
I`m passing comment on Rangers` fans, based on over 20 years of going to Govan on business and over 20 years of going to Rangers` games at Ibrox.
You`re an utter fool if you try and defend Govan for anything other than the rough hellhole it is.

As for your `anti scottish` thing, that makes me laugh.
I admit I`m anti tartan army, they`re buffoons.
I`ll admit I`m no lover of Rangers/ Celtic too.
To suggest that makes me anti-scottish is just so laughable it`s criminal though.
I`m not anti-Scotland at all.
I`m not vehemently pro-Scotland either.
I may have more in common with a Dusseldorf dustman than the scot sitting next to me though, I just take people as they come.

Getting back to the of the thread, and ignoring your frothy mouthed rants, I worry about the CL final now.
Give that a Russian was stabbed last night, how will the Russian people/police react to Man Utd and Chelsea supporters?
They`re unlikely to make the distinction between Scottish and English.
Why would they, when Rangers fans carry Union Jacks and St.George crosses?
They will view the stabbing of a Zenit fan as being done by `Britain`, which is worrying. :/
