If the cwc was still running who would be this years English entry, i know that if the F.A cup winner was in the European cup/champions league then the runner up would play in the cwc but with both the winner and the runner up in the champions league who would it be......sorry to ramble on :)

Portsmouth or Cardiff would have been in the CWC - FA Cup winners went forward to the cup.

I thought that`s what he meant at first, but I think he means would have been playing in "this seasons cup winners cup" because it was Man Utd v Chelsea FA Cup last season.

From memory there were only 3years in which there was more than one champions league place through the league and there were only 7countries who had more than one place.

Unsure whether there was a situation in any of those countries where the teams that finished 1st and 2nd contended the cup final.

I could be wrong, but isn`t the choice of who enters the competition down to the local countries FA rather than Uefa? (I`m thinking here that it was the Premier League that decided correctly that Everton should be in the champions league rather than Liverpool after the 2004/05 season).

They shouldnt have been forced to make a decision. To not have the winners of a competition in to defend it the next year on a "winners exemption" (if you like) is and would have been rediculous to be honest - and that goes for whomever the team was and not because it happens to be the club I support

I`m coming from the opinion the the Premier League made the correct decision by not changing their rules with 5 games to go in a season.

It would be the similar to Platini`s idea for FA cup winner`s to play in the Champions League instead of 4th place having immediate effect from today.
