Current problem with Play?

Richard_lench (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 6th March 2002, 17:03

I ordered Moulin Rouge last week (Thursday i think) and since then my account details have only said `checking`- this has never happened before.
The site says they have it in stock now so why hasnt it been processed yet?
I emailed them last night and haven`t got a reply back yet.
Can anyone help me?

I think this means they are doing a credit check
Are you a new customer or if existing have you recently changed your CC details or address.
Best to phone and they will then sort it out immediately. Time to answer phones is now very good less than 30 secs anytime I have phoned recently

Well I had to get a new card because the last one expired. It is probably that.

Thanks

Yes they also expect me to phone them up everytime I use another card. That is bullsh*t in my opinion because they know my name and address and everything. I have used all my cards with them before but each time my order says processing for a while and i ring them up, they feed me this cr*p. With my last order they had no excuse I used the same card as i did before, it was valid and had the more than sufficient funds in it. The title was in stock and was processing for over a week. I kept on asking them what the problem was and they wouldnt reply. All they said was that they have now shipped it. We all know what the problem was only they wont admit that they have a crap service. How long can it bloody take?

dicanio - having seen your numerous rants about play`s service, in variuos forums and threads, i was just wondering why you continue to use them? If you`ve been let down so continuously why not take your business elsewhere?

The last 10 orders have ALL been screwed up by them.
It sends a reply e-mail with "credit card rejected" title , no problems with my credit card Just that play cant seem to set up an authorisation system correctly.

RESULT: Every time I order on-line I have to phone them up and get one of their monkeys to manually process it.

I mean they aren`t even smart enough to send a copy of the reject e-mail to one of their people to look into to ensure that it is not a system error.

Bill
I am not the only one having these problems. I have praised them in the past when they have given me great service but recently they have let me down. In answer to your question, I only use them occaisonally because i have to because i am not made of money. They have a few good bargains sometimes and this entices me and sometimes i forget how they frustrated me.
I also like to test them out once in a while to see whether their service has improved. I feel everyone deserves a second chance but play are running out of chances with me cos they have done it once too often. I was very p*ssed off with dvdimport at first but i gave them another chance and they didnt dissapoint me. Them and absound are my number 1 choice. For my normal stuff i now use under18 for region 2 and dvdimport or absound for region 1.
I hope this has been enlightening for you

I finally got an email reply from Play saying that my card has expired so I updated my details and replied to the email to confirm...5 hours laters, I am still waiting for the status to change from `checking` to `accepted` or `processing` or whatever they have changed it to now.

dicanio - who would your top 3 online dvd retailers be? I`m talking in terms of quality of service, delivery time, range of products and price competitiveness. R1 & R2. Basically, the whole package. I`ve used play because i`ve not had any problems, as yet, but also because i wasnt really aware of who the competition were. So any advice would be much appreciated. I suppose the more you use them, the greater the chance that you`ll experience a problem - i`d like to eliminate that possiblity!

I`ll have a look at those sites you mentioned though.
Cheers!

Hi
I do not recall ever seeing a thread anywhere mentioning problems with absound.ca and dvdcrave.com I have used them many times and they always give great service.
