Anybody got a decent replacement for PLAY247?

KJ (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 7th January 2002, 18:55

Have finally given up with PLAY247. Before September 2001 nothing but 1st class service, but since then, what a nightmare. They wouldn`t process my orders kept saying credit card declined, tried 2 different cards no different. Eventually managed to get through on their otherwise permanently engaged phone line and spoke to someone who explained it was a fault at their end and manually processing the order would be fine.He also said that there should be no more problems with their automated system. But there were, and now, 4 months on, after lots of e-mails, lots of standard replies and not getting anywhere, I have decided not to use them again and cancel my orders. Shame as they were good (something in the deepest darkest depths of my memory tells me!!). So now, I am left not knowing where to get good value dvd`s without crucifyingly expensive p&p can anyone help me please? Thanks in advance.

Play are fantastic, every DVD I`ve ordered I`ve got in under 4 days.

Your gonna get a lot of people saying "use Future, their awsome". The thing is even if I don`t like them, their the 2nd mainstream import site. All I can say is run to the hills you crazy fool.

I have to agree...recently, Play have sent stuff off to me before the advertised date of release , Now if that isn`t good service, I don`t know what is.

OK guys thanks, I agree until recently they have been excellent, but I still think 4 months is a ridiculous length of time to wait. The beauty of Play was their quick service and the fact that you got the disc before gen. release in UK, now all but 2 of the 6 discs I ordered are available in the High Street as Reg. 2 and only a couple of quid more expensive. Plus, hassle free, I can purchase them! Do you reckon they`ll get good again?

I have nothing but praise for Future , just be aware that even forthcoming releases are debited at point of order. Vern

I know you don`t wanna hear this this but I gotta say it: STICK WITH PLAY!! I read all the posts on here about poor delivery times etc, but I have stuck with them. I`ve been using Play since the end of `99 & I`ve had NO trouble. In fact I`ve recieved 3 discs off them this week with a 48hr turnaround...

Had nowt but great service from play.com, my first order was well over a year ago now and I rember getting that with in two days. The service around Christmas and New Year was a bit slow but that is only to be expected. Some times I do have to wait 3-4 days for the stuff to come (the post up in the North East of England is always a bit slow) but for the money you save off the high street it is worth it. Stick with play mate.

I placed my first order with Play on the 25th of this month. I usually use Under 18 but they did not have the dvds in stock. So I checked Play they had the 3 dvds in stock so I ordered.Four days later it still says they are processing my order. I am not in any hurry but they certainly don`t process all orders of in stock goods within 24hours as per their claim.
