Tesco.com - anyone awaiting DVDs from them?

sparkster (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 11th November 2001, 16:01

This may sound a little inpatient as some DVD sites are very slow but I ordered The Godfather boxset & Face Off on Thursday 8th from Tesco.com. The site said the DVDs would be dispatched in 24 hours as they were in stock and I would get an e-mail when this happens. I haven`t had an e-mail yet only one to say orders been taken.

I know they have had the VAT free promotion so this is probably the reason. Anyone else awaiting DVDs from them at moment.

The 8th is a thursday! that`s only been 3 days! and it`s the weekend. I have ordered from them before and they should arrive pretty soon.

I ordered about 12 films and a cd on Wednesday. All were in stock, but haven`t heard anything. My e-mail hasn`t been answered!

Yep. I`m waiting for the Godfather. Despite ordering tues/weds I still haven`t had the "order sent" e-mail. Tossers.

This, Children, is why its worth actually spending the extra £5 to pop down the shops, pick out a copy that won`t be dunched up or pawed by a thief and be sat on your fat arse watching the film before the online companies have finished jiggling with their testicles.

The Tesco site is now unavailable (DVD). The helpful people at their company have put up some emssage saying that there is no DVD section and I have entered a page name incorrectly. Great confidence that gives mewhen I`ve placed an order worth £60 with them. Got the e-mail confirming the order but no info on despatch (since Saturday) and the order (last checked yesterday) was at the status of "Approved".

Ordered five DVD`s thursday, received them yesterday (tuesday), all in one package as requested. They didn`t send me any email to say they`d been despatched though.

I`m beginning to get a sinking feeling about Tesco...

Ordered Buffy S3 on 7th even though it was out of stock, figured they`d get more in this week & send as a backorder.

Order was accepted and I received an order number by email.

Box set came back in stock 13th, order status stayed at "Accepted".

Today (14th) cannot access my order status as it seems you must go through the "warehouse" you ordered from. Of course the DVD warehouse keeps giving 404 type errors, what with the VAT-free offer and Christmas looming large.

Phoned customer services on 0845 7225533 at 5.45 today, spoke to a very nice man called John who said he couldn`t check my order status, the only people who could went home at 5.30.

Also, worryingly, he said items that are out of stock when ordered may be given an order confirmation number but the order is in fact cancelled so I`m not even sure I will get the thing at all!

It sounds to me like their system is a) badly designed and b) stretched to breaking point...

If I get no joy tomorrow I may just give up and get it from somewhere else. It`s no good offering something cheap if you can`t fulfil your orders...

(edited to add:) Forget emailing them with queries as John said expected response time was 7 days! So the only way is to phone them during office hours. Welcome to the age of the train... ;o)

The VAT free offer has obviously inundated them with orders. I finally got Godfather yesterday (4 working days isn`t bad) but no "order sent" mail.

They must have been way too busy, LOL!
