It does seem strange that all DVDs are US$9.99 even pre-orders. I`ve ordered Phantom Menace and Pearl Harbour to try them out. I`ve played it safe and used a Credit Card protected against Internet fraud.

Has anyone actually ordered and received any discs from this company yet ?

That is a bit worrying, there site says:

All DVDs purchased from MyDirectDVD are GUARANTEED to be:

BRAND NEW, complete with FACTORY SHRINK WRAP.

Hmmm, that`s what I thought too when I saw their website ! They claim they are a 6 month "experiment" and that they get the discs from other countries. They will also swap the disc if you return it within 5 days of receiving it. Something mighty odd is going on here.

We shall see.

I think the translation on that is "we buy lots of pirate copies from the far east and send them on without opening. After about 6 months we should have made enough money to disappear".

The contact info is also a little suspect :-) (Suite 216? - cheques payable to a different company name)

Caveat emptor.

Where would you report this site to, to get it checked out?
I don`t think my local police station would be interested!.

i once owned an episode1 dvd like this (bought if off ebay) some asians probably just took the laserdisc, converted it from mpeg1 to mpeg2 (dvd format), left the DD5.1 track, made a few dvds off it and this company bought those and tries to sell them here. the video quality sucks, sound is OK if they didn`t screw up, menus are horrible, no extras or subs, and of course it`s plain illegal and i wouldn`t trust them.

I sent an email to their general enquiries address yesterday to ask them to comment about the authenticity of the DVDs they sell. I have asked them to confirm that their DVDs are 100% authentic genuine as licensed by the film studios. So far I have not received a reply but California is 8 hours behind the UK.

I will let you know if I get a reply but some how I think there will be no reply to the question ! I`d be surprised if they do reply and what they say.
