dvdplus.co.uk.... where`s the yellow padlock?????

I was just about to make my first purchase from this site when I noticed the secutiry icon was missing on the credit card details screen, which instantly made me feel uneasy. I mean, isn`t that a prerequisite these days?

Further to that, I just got the following message back from their Customer Services Co-ordinator....

"The data is fully encrypted, hence the Ignite/Verisign logo on the page.
The padlock doesn`t show because we only use and SSL connection for the credit card form and not the surrounding frames that contain non-sensitive information."

I`m not that technical when it comes to web page design, but I would have thought that if one frame on a page is secure, the whole page must be, and the padlock should show??? Im I right? Help me out here guys :oD

There is an option in Internet Explorer (if your using that) which says, "Warn when switching between encrypted and unencrypted pages". I usually have it off, relying like you on seeing the secure icon in the status bar.

If your paying for a secure verisign key, then I would at least expect it to be used on all personal details and credit card transactions. A quick right clicking of the "register" page frame shows that this isn`t encrypted.

I suggest you do the same on the credit card details section, and see if it says Not Encrypted there too.

Thanks for the advice. I have been back - the frame is https, so placed my order this morning. Got Arthur and Frantic for £8.99 each, and Jerry Maguire for £10.99. Free p&p. Not bad me thinks.
