Just received an email from our friends at CD-Wow with an interesting concept in DVD rentals,
Several different membeship levels and next day UK Delivery are tasty enough but the monthly membership is limited only to your speed of turnaround based on 1st class prepaids.
Introductory 2 week free membership is the initial carrot.

They are using the company lovefilm, also used to be known as DVDsOnTap, this isn`t really a bargian as they have one of the worst turnaround rates ever for a DVD online rental company.

I should know I used to be a member when they sent me two rentals in two weeks.

Taken up the two week trial. First batch of three came. All in terrible condition full of scratches and finger prints. One disc won`t even play!!

E-mailed them on Friday and I`m still waiting for a reply.

At the moment I`ll be cancelling me subs.

I tried Choices one month free trial, thought they were pretty good. Now with Screenselect, equally good but have sent three films of a trilogy out of order (I have discs 2 and 3). One disc was broken on arrival but that`s bound to happen. For anyone wanting to try various companies, details of most of them here

Third batch of films from CDWOW and yet another faulty disc. Thats 2 in 9 discs that won`t play.

Complained about the first one and got 3 extra free days. So, I wonder if I complain about the latest they`ll extend my free trial yet again?

Maybe if they send me a faulty disc every time I`ll never have to pay :D

So far i`m 12 days into my 2 week trial. i have received 2 DVDs. The first one to be sent never arrived. I reported this and still havent got this resolved. Second and third were sent out 8 days into the trial. I have sent 2 irate emails and received, you guessed it, no replies. So i reckon i will be charged even though i have tried to cancel the trial. I would not recommend CD-Wow rental service under any circumstances. Especially as it`s impossible to get hold of a real person to discuss any issues you might have.

Sad that the CdWow who we all know and trust should perform so badly.
Apologies to anyone who had poor service based on my original post.
