The Bad Retailers Thread - Post Your Rants Here

Westy (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 13th December 2003, 15:00

As per the good retailer thread, post your bad customer service experiences here.

Please be constructive - DO NOT POST DEFAMATORY OR LEGALLY UNSOUND COMMENTS We don`t want anyone getting into trouble ;)

Just the name, and why we should avoid or take caution. Remember to search the thread first to see if your chosen retailer has already been spoken about. If you must add a comment about an already posted name, then that`s ok but don`t go too mad!! I`m just going to see if we can build up a good little database so we can steer new users to the threads - after all a big recommend or no thankyou sir from a load of users is better than one :D

Have fun and take care 8)

Deep Discount DVD - Truly unreliable and have let me down only once. That was the only time i ever ordered from them, the service was that poor i never ever want to use them again. Use them at your peril

Dixons - The High Street retailer that makes me laugh. Poorly trained staff who have little knowledge of what they`re selling, daft prices on all the popular products, and some truly shocking ommisions in the product ranges. The reason why internet shopping for electricals is so popular!!

More please sir... :)

Game: Expensive and quite often rude. I was browsing through the S/H games and an assistant came up and asked `Why dont you buy a new game?`. Why dont you four cobs!

thecomputershop- Im a bit skint at the mo and need a new computer. So i had to bite the bullett and, against my better judgement, went `high street` as i needed a 6 month interest free period for the surplus 200 i needed. Assistants quoted stats at me until i asked them a few questions (i know a fair bit about pooters) so they then concentrated on my financial predicament. Then quoted stats to me again.

Splash- Same reason as everyone else.

Ebuyer- see HERE

McDonalds- What the hell do they define as fast food anyway?

Savastore.com

Ordered a hard drive, saw it cheaper elsewhere, phoned them and cancelled the order. Went and ordered it elsewhere, then a few days was horrified to see I was £100 overdrawn! What? Savastore had charged me £120 for the hard drive I cancelled.
Next thing, delivery man knocking on the door with a bloody hard drive!!!!!

Trying to get through to their customer services to see what the hell was going on was a nightmare, was sitting in long queues, then as soon as the operator answered they were disconnecting. Eventually they did sort it but after a very messy week trying to get in contact!

I've being using the net to buy things now for about 5 years, & the worse experience I've ever had with any site was without any hesitation Movietyme. I would NEVER use the again.

DVDSOON are one of the most frustrating sites to deal with because they are soooooooo slow.

Used to use Splash a lot, but don't now as I've been let down by them once to often.
I now use Play, Choices Direct & CDWow for most of my DVD net oders now, as they have never let me down.

24-7electricals.co.uk - they try and fob you off if your item develops a fault, and apparantly the Sale of Goods Act applies ot everyone except them - avoid.

DVD Popcorn

Despite quoting 1-3 days for Secret Policeman`s Ball boxed set, still haven`t got an email stating it`s been dispatched....and I ordered nearly 3 weeks ago!

DVD Popcorn said they were awaiting stock when I emailed last week...despite showing 1-3 days on the site still.

It`s easy to be cheap when you don`t actually deliver anything.
