my lovely wife has bought me a Nikon AF-S 35mm f1.8G DX
for Christmas.

can`t wait to attach it to my camera on Christmas morning and
get some nice pics of the kids opening their prezzies.

I love prime lenses. I used to love the 50mm on my old SLR, and I love the 50mm on my DSLR, tho I think in actual fact your 35mm works out as almost the same as my old film one and my new one comes out at more like 75mm effectively.

I think more people should get primes, they are way more fun than a zoom!

:D

yup.. my d5100`s aps-c sensor coupled with the 35mm lens is equivalent
to 50mm on a full frame camera. can`t wait to try it :)

incidentally Rob, currys are selling off the Pentax k30 for less than £400 notes
with cash back. I really like the look of the Pentax, especially the weather
sealing.

First pro level camera I ever owned was a Nikon Photomic F2 with a 105mm f2.5.
Only parted with the lens a few years ago, loved that bottle.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary

I can't quite work out the difference between the K-30 and the K-5 II, still as I can't justify an upgrade yet it doesn't really matter. :) I think the K-5 II is the current top of their line.

The weather sealing is great, the only problem is the weather sealed lenses are really pricey, so I've got other ones first. Still, I've gone out in snow and not worried too much in light rain, by using my hand to protect the lens as much as possible and tilting the camera down so the back takes the brunt of the snow between shots.

Some great pics there Ste
they`re fantastic. i especially like the very first one, sack boy with the very nice
bokeh lighting behind.

i took mine out for a spin when we had the snow in January, ideal as the light was
good which enabled me to use some faster shutter speeds to get some pics of our
pooches. they`d normally be really blurred `cos they won`t stay still for a minute!!

hope you enjoy yours mate, coupled with the D3100, you should get some great shots. :)
