Bit of a nightmare week. Had another browser profile crash, and me being the luddite that I am, I run an old instance of Firefox that lets me run legacy extensions that make my life easy, and let me keep it looking the way I like. Getting all that to work again from a fresh install, and rescuing elements from my old profile was enough of a faff.
Then Windows updated...
And my wireless mouse stopped working. But not completely. The clicks still worked, side to side movement worked, down movement worked. But going up, I had to use my laptop trackpad. Why? I thought it was the new browser install, so I switched to another browser, and it started working again. Until it didn't. And then it did... and then it didn't. Thought the last Windows update did something, so I tried switching to another USB port... and tried reinstalling the driver.
Another keyboard and mouse worked...
Then I changed the batteries.... and now the mouse works!
What I don't understand is that I tried changing the batteries when it first happened, and it made no difference!

sounds like me the other day, mouse wasn't working on one of the kids laptops, turned mouse on and off, still had light, moved wifi dongle to different usb port, no difference, replaced batteries, no difference.
then realised i was trying to use the mouse from the other kid's laptop :(
