My Nexus 7 seems dead - help?
My Nexus 7 has been very well behaved since I bought it. I used it last Monday, and left it on (standby), and it went flat. Tried to charge it up yesterday, but it wouldn`t switch back on. Once I was sure it had to be fully charged, I unplugged it from the power, but it still won`t switch on...any suggestions?
Does it have a removable battery? If so try taking it out for a couple of minutes, that usually sorts the same problem on my daughters phone. Sometimes the battery won't take a charge unless the battery is removed for a bit too.
Regards
Bryan

No, the back is a sealed unit, no obvious way of getting it open.
I just know I`m going to be stuck with a brick. Not happy. I bought it from HMV, and they`ve closed down. Can`t find the receipt...just have the box. I`m screwed, aren`t I?

I've been having a look and it can definitely be opened, and disconnecting then reconnecting the battery has worked for people with the same problem on the Nexus 7.
From what I've read, opening it doesn't effect any warranty so give it a bash and see how it goes.
Hope this works for you, there's nothing worse than having a piece of kit that's bricked.

Yes, including ours...

Try holding the power switch down for 30 seconds -properly timed.

I didn`t get back to my Nexus 7 until today. Managed to get the back off as that video demonstrates. Disconnected the battery and reconnected. It did look loose.
It has totally drained down, so I`ve plugged the charger in and hopefully it is charging, though I can`t see for sure. If I try to power it up, it boots so far, then powers down again, but I get to see my home screen briefly and it shows a flat battery.
I`ll leave it for a few hours, and if there`s still no joy, I`ll find a replacement battery online and order it.
Thanks everyone. I`ll update you when it`s sorted...
Edit: Four hours later and it still won`t boot up, showing a flat battery when the home screen briefly appears. I know the charging lead works because I use it to charge my phone (same connection), so I guess I`ll have to spend just over £30 on a new battery. Hope that is the problem.
