Thinking about selling my gaming rig.
not 100% sure yet, but i`m very strongly considering selling my main "gaming" pc & getting one of the new nvidia 9400 based mac mini`s, as it should be powerfull enough to run the couple of games i play.
heres the spec if anyone has an interest ;)
Q6600 core2quad cpu @ 4x 2.4ghz i ran it at 3ghz for a few days & it had no problems, only dropped it back because i just don`t need any extra speed. but nice to know you can if you want :) aparently the Q6600 can be run at upto 3.5ghz but i never went that far & at 3ghz it was still running very cool.
Nvidia 8800GTX 1gig i never overclocked this as it runs everything on full settings @ 1920x1200 res, but i`m told this is also an easey card for very big overclock increases if desired.
Thermaltake BIG TYPHOON heatsink & fan, very heavy duty cooler, the best i`ve ever used tbh, keeps the cpu temp right down, includes 6 heatpipes.
Abit AB9-Pro motherboard, Pci-e, duall channel DDR 9 sata ports !!! 1x ide + 1x floppy ports, 6 rear usb, & iirc upto another 6 on the front, hi-def sound (iirc, 7.1 channel) 2x gigabit lan 1x external sata port.
at least 2gig DDR ram (in dual channel mode) could be more ram, i`m having a look waht i got during the weekend.
650watt PSU good quality dual rail jobbie
Sharkroom gaming case with 9 5.25 bays & filtered blanking panels.
Dual layer dvd re-writer
large hard drive, not sure the exact size yet, but it`ll be between 250gig & 500gig, depending what i decide to put in a caddy.
Thermaltake hard drive caddy, holds upto 3 hard drive with a 120mm silent fan with blue LED`s looks really nice behind the case`s 5.25" filtered blanking panels.
runs Call of duty world at war with everything on full blast @ 1920x1200 without any overclocks etc, & i reckon it could be pushed about a third further if anyone had the desire ;)
not really sure on the price, ballparks around £400 i guess, but i thought i`d gauge any interest. i`ll post some pictures later when i get home.
EDIT= Forgot to say, it`ll be fully built with a clean install of XP home including the COA lisence sticker.

If you need to sell you should be able to get much more than 400, even selling just the graphics card and processor and mobo on ebay should get you more. But I guess you don`t want the hassle

RE: Thinking about selling my gaming rig.
hi chris
if you want to sell it i will definately buy it let me know.
thanks
RE: Thinking about selling my gaming rig.
Hi Vikash, i just saw your facebookpost, unfortunately i can`t really post/courier it, especially with the heatsink & fan thats fitted, if it got bumped (which it would) the heatsink would snap of, the only other way to do it would be to totaly break it down, sending the gfx/heatsink etc seperately, & that`d cost a small fortune & i`d still be paranoid about damage in transit etc :( wish i could help you more, but posting it`s just to much worry :(

Mac Mini on the horizon then mate?
Not going to hold out for an Nvidia Ion box? (Rumoured to make an appearance next month from either Acer or Dell apparently).

RE: Thinking about selling my gaming rig.
gonna go for the mac for two reasons, the main one being it`s a known quantity, & even tho imo it`s vastly overpriced, it is amazing kitt, if you consider that my atom netbook which runs the same intel GFX chipset as my old core duo mini, the netbook can`t play 720p hi def vids, whilst the old mini happily runs 1080p no problems, & that brings me to reason number 2, whilst i`m sure the dual core atoms are ok, i`d still rather have the core2duo, also if the new mac runs a similar logic board as the original, (a zif style cpu socket) then i`ll have the option of upgrading the cpu in the future, whilst iirc the ion based dual atoms are soldered in place, so no upgrade potential beyond adding extra memory.

RE: Thinking about selling my gaming rig.
Actually I think I read that they`d soldered the new Mac Mini`s CPU to the board...will try and dig out where I read that (or I perhaps imagined it!)
