How Do I Get My Web Browser Allow .Com Sites
Hi
I am currently with BT Total Broadband and with some .com sites the browser defaults to .co.uk sites. ie www.hotels.com defaults to .co.uk site.
Does anyone know how I can get the .com website to display.
thanks

Scripting at the hotels.com site is checking your IP, when it detects that you are in the UK it redirects you to the hotels.co.uk site.

Does that mean I can`t do anything about the site redirecting my request?

You need to use a proxy. I tried a few from this site. Don`t use a German proxy though or you will get the German hotels.com site :(

I used to go to Rotten Tomatoes.com for the US box office and reviews etc. but now it chucks me straight onto the UK site, which I`m really not interested in. Hugely frustrating.

http://proxify.com/ is another one to use
I assume some sites do it to be helpful, i.e. hotels etc,
sites like gamespot so that they can target relevent adverts to you.

RE: How Do I Get My Web Browser Allow .Com Sites
For some reason (no clue why) my browser seems to think im in Germany!!! which means I cant use the bbc site to watch footie highlights etc, any clue why this is and what I can do about it??
RE: How Do I Get My Web Browser Allow .Com Sites
Have you tried a different browser, deleting all cookies ,temp files etc?
It`s unlikely to be the browser, more likely ISP. I had problems getting some work webmail to work once, it used to tell me that I asn`t allowed to access it from overseas! Apparently that was to do with the way NTL gave out IP addresses!
I`ve noticed on occasion at work if I go to eBay, it asks if I`d rather go to he spanish eBay site instead! So maybe it`s a site thing.
Not much help am I, sorry!

When I go to my wifes aunts house in kent, my mobile thinks im in france and charges me f***ing international rates.
Again, not much help.....
Actually, most sites that have a local re-direct do usually give you the option to change your location somehow.

Hi All
Thanks for all your views, I have tried all the above with no success. I logged on at work today and no problems at all, so all it can be is BT. I will try and call them and will feedback what they have to say, if anything.
