Page 1 of Mobile phone signal question

I have a Motorola V3 on T-Mobile PAYG. At my work place (inside a building) i don`t get a signal (only if i go and stand right to the window, and even then it`s only 1/2 bars on the signal strenght. My colleague have different phones, different network and don`t have the same problem. Also sometimes my wife calls me and I am outside and the call goes directly to voicemail.
My question is: Is my phone crap? Or is it the network? :(

It`s the network. T-Mobile isn`t as strong a signal as Vodaphone or O2 in my experiences

I would second that opinion. The V3 isn`t a bad `phone (I have one) , not as good as a 6310i but few are. T-Mobile network can be very patchy.

I have the same problem with my W810i on Orange. Is there anything available to help maybe increase signal strength?

Maybe time for a change then. Wonder if I could keep my current number if I was to switch to another network.

Yes, just get a PAC code from T Mobile, give that number to your sales guy\online ordering.




I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

I used to be on t mobile, ,I called their customer services once, and the connection was bad, the customer services bloke suggested I stand closer to a window to get a better signal, that was about 5 years ago!

I changed to Orange a couple of years ago, much better coverage in buildings.

As Rassilon says above, I just contacted T Mobile for PAC, then gave that number when ordering my Orange phone. I think the Orange phone arrived with its own number, ,then the number got transferred so there was no time when my number didn`t work.

Thanks guys. I have contacted T-Mobile by email and I am waiting to see what they are going to say. WIll probably change provider as this is bugging me now. May go with Vodafone as the wife is on it. What about 3, any good? They have that £15 + free phone offer on which is quite good compared to others, but is their coverage and service good? Thanks

See if you have any colleagues on Vodafone and check their signal strength before you jump.

In my experience those coverage maps are useless - we apparently have good coverage from all networks at home, but Vodafone is the only one that works well.

My wife and I have been on 3 for a couple of years now. Coverage has been fine (South West England). One thing, be careful which phone you choose, as the phones their offers include are often not particularly good. Other than that never had any problems with customer service etc.
