compatible inks, are they ok to use?

coke_dude (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 2nd June 2007, 16:35

my inks are running out on my canon pixma mp600
when I first bought it there were no compatibles for it but now they are available at 1/10th of the original catridge price!

should I continue using originals or Ill be ok using compatibles?
the last printer I had, I used compatibles and the ink head went bust
I wonder if using compatibles were the cause?
Ive heard bad things of using compatibles
especially with canons due to the way they made their ink heads compared to epsons

The way I look at it is, by the time compatibles have broken my printer, I`ll have saved enough by not buying originals to easily afford the replacement cost. I`ve never used anything else once the first ones are empty.

Same here, and as random username said, the money you`ll save will get you a new printer.

hm
i guess that makes sense
buying originals 3 times is enough for me to get a new printer
clear choice then :)
thanks!

I sell the originals that come with the printer on fleabay & use compatible inks.

I`ve got an epson cx5200 - printer/scanner combined.

I`ve found that compatibles didn`t produce good photo printing and seem to produce blocked heads quicker, so have ended up going back to orginals.

I`ve got a Canon Smartbase MP700 all-in-one, and always use compatibles. I`ve had the machine for about 18 months.

Usual price of original cartridges is £8.99 each (£36 a set). I pay £1 a cartridge on eBay, never get a duff, and save a fortune.

If it shortens the life of the printer, I don`t care. It is defintely worth it in the long run.
