Page 1 of Internet goes soooo slow when downloading stuff

I`ve got a 4 MB line - when i`m downloading music/movies using utorrent i pretty much have to scrap surfing the net as its soo slow and frustrating.

Can anyone recommend a way to stop this?

Limit your speeds in uTorrent: For an individual torrent(s) right-click on it, click Properties and enter the speeds you want in the boxes. You can also use this to help your ratio while downloading - make your download slower than or equal to your upload.

To make a universal maximum speed right-click in the areas of the status bar for upload and download and select the speed.

As above. Also always limit your upload - it actually has a HUGE bearing on your download speed. Keep the limit set to about 15 while downloading and 0 when not. This means you get it quicker but if it finishes when you`re in bed for example then instead of only uploading at the lower speed it goes to unlimited upload. (options - preferences - connection. Bandwidth limiting - tick the box.) Use the bottom option to limit your overall download speed but you generally find it`s the upload that kills browsing.. eg mine`s 15 - 0 - 0. but if it`s uploading at full speed and I want to browse I temporarily lower the upload speed.

Also you could use something like netlimiter.

I just leave mine going overnight when I am not using the PC and you dont bugger up the bandwidth for you fellow users during the day as some greedy ;) buggers do (:¦

i just leave mine downloading full blast 24/7 :D but, i`m on ntl so it disne effect my fellow users, unlike adsl ;) :p

since discovering rapidshare i`ve not used utorrent since :)

a lot faster because you are only downloading and not uploading anything, i only have a 2mb broadband connection but i`ve been hitting 150/160 download speeds.

You`d get over 200 on Usenet.
