Help needed to find a suitable atx motherboard :)

MADTheOgster (Elite Donator) posted this on Thursday, 28th September 2006, 20:07

ok, this is a bit of a wierd one, i sold a micro system to a friend of mine when i built my new pc, it currently houses a socket A amd motherboard, but he`s decided to go to an intel cpu, so i said i`d try & find a motherboard that will fit the specific case (it`s a cool case & thats the main reason he bought it in the first place)

this is the motherboard thats currently installed.

http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/acorp/7KM400QP.htm

the problem seems to be the rear panel, the acorp mounts the ports on the opposite side than other boards of the same "class"

for example,

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=448645
the ports on this board seem to reflect the general orientation of this class of board, & i can`t find a socket 775 board that matches the orientation of the acorp board (needs to take a D950 or core 2 duo intel cpu) :¦

if anyone knows a board that shares the physical layout of the acorp i`d be very greatfull for a pointer :)

thanks in advance...

I`ve got 2 of these Acorp motherboards. Did you by any chance get them from the Time stall at Bowlers within a "Cube" case? I bought these barebones cases to build PCs for the kids but haven`t got round to finishing them yet.

At the time I bought them, the guy behind the counter offered me a Pentium 4 motherboard which would fit inside it for £10. I stupidly declined (being an AMD fan) and didn`t realise that half decent Socket A processors would be so difficult to locate at a reasonable price. The form factor for this motherboard is Flex ATX which seem to be a bit thin on the ground. Apart from the one offered to me at Bowlers (cannot remember make), I`ve never found this form in anything but Socket A and VIA onboard CPUs.

I know this doesn`t help much, but P4 motherboards must exist as I was offered one.

yup, the exact same one :) time branded

as seen on the left here :)

& the p4 was probably taken from the msi barebones as shown here

unfortunately these are socket 478, & tbh, they where almost all faulty :¦ (as was a lot of the stuff on the tiny/time stall, i returned 3 sets before getting one that worked)

really need socket 775, but thanks for the reply :) always nice to meet a fellow northerner ;)

since the microatx all seem to be 24.5 by something that sounds suspiciously like a custom made job for a manufacturer same as dell do so probably a case of if you want a cool case you`ll have to buy another one since i assume that buying a rerplacement board off ebay would get you the case as well
