Page 1 of how do you connect yours

I use a cat 5 cable thingy to connect my modem to my computer but my friend uses a usb cable. is there any difference in connect/speed or doesnt it matter.
thanks
if you have a modem with an ethernet connection and a pc with an ethernet connection then using up a usb port that could be plugged into a multitude of other peripherals instead of one you`re unlikely to use aside for networking is nuts.
Plus USB has bandwidth limits so plug too many heavy users such as a modem into the same controller can cause overloading problems and "bandwidth exceeded" messages in some cases.

in other words, use the ethernet :) thats what it`s made for & it`s usually faster (& suffers less latency)
