Page 1 of Basic PC recording software

I need some basic PC recording software to record from Line In. The Windows recorder will only record for 60 secs. I`ve just realised my new soundcard that I had to buy for XP does not have a reocrding suite. Anyone know of a good free download?
Give Audacity a try. I used it earlier this year to record a radio show & it worked for me
RE: Basic PC recording software
Thanks Labman, will do.
I also use Audacity but mainly to edit and modify sound files.
For simple recording I use the "Absolute MP3 Recorder" software and it`s free as well.
Available here:
Absolute MP3 Recorder
PS. You can also programme it like a video recorder to record at set times.

Thanks also, Inkitin
RE: Basic PC recording software
Audacity worked a treat.
David Gilmour now on cd for the car.
Thanks again Inkitin.
If it was Audacity, I think you need to thank Labman!
The main thing is that you got something that worked for you.
i personally find audacity a little cumbersome for basic recording (its more geared towards multi-track pro recording)
goldwave is OK for two/one-tracking... nagware tho`...
RE: Basic PC recording software
Yes, sorry, thanks again Labman.
