RECORDING SOFTWARE PLEASE

jell (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Friday, 17th February 2006, 08:39

Can anyone recommend some free software so that I can transfer my old LP`s onto my computer ?

Once I have done this and converted them to MP3, can I then download them onto an MP3 player with song titles and artists to enable the search etc facilities to be used

`CDex` hasrecord from analog input on it & it`s free.
I used to do this with `Music Match Jukebox`. I havn`t used it lately so I`m not sure if the new one does it. I thought Nero also did this, not sure though. To your second question, you can name, tag with song titles & Artists. Mine are picked up by all 3 of my MP3 players.

Again I`m not sure but doesn`t windows own `sound recorder allow recording in`

Thanks, but doesn`t this only rip CD`s. I want to copy my old LP`s. They`re those big old plastic things for those of you too young to remember

CDex 1.51 under `tools` says "record from analog input"

I`ve recorded hundreds of LPs & singles & spent hours, even days, getting rid of clicks the only way that leaves them without sounding like they came from outer space, Manually. I use Cool Edit for my work. Once recorded you need to seperate the tracks, unless you record each track separately. This I think can be done with Nero. There must be someone who can help further with this in these forums.

Goldwave ;)
Search in Google for latest version.
Can record LP`s and display the stereo as a sound wave file and split the file into the tracks easily.

Used to be free, not sure now though. I have "backed up approx 100 Lp`s using Goldwave and would recommend it highly. Will read and save many formats as well.

goldwave seconded

there are other rrfeeware progs to use (like audacity) but theyre a bit of a nightmare for just ripping tracks as theyre designed for pro recocording/multitracking.
