Help iPOD Mini with folder and exclamation mark on the front!

Hi
I wanted to copy files from a G3 today and ran a disk utility programme to get the iPod recognised - I`m not sure if I partitioned/erased the drive but it then appeared on the desktop and I could use it as a hard drive. However...

Now when I turn it on there is a folder with an exclamation mark beside it on the screen - and I can`t use it as an MP3 player any more - any ideas? I would be so grateful for any info as I just bought it two days ago!

Best Wishes

Dan

Not sure how it works on the macs....but on the PC, you can download the latest firmware/update and restore the ipod. It sounds to me like you`ve wiped its filesystem and restoring will simply put that back (but will remove anything on the drive).

on mac OS9 if you were greeted by a folder with a question mark on power up it meant that the OS could not be found........

deano, have you run iPod Update to restore the iPod? You should find this in your Applications/Utilities folder if you installed everything from the CD. Alternatively, d/l the latest iPod/iTunes (v4.9) from iTunes.com and hopefully this will resolve any probs you have.
