Can I access BT email if I change ISP

Luffer (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 16th June 2005, 15:01

Sorry if this is a really basic question, but Im not very computer literate.

I currently subscribe to btyahoo broadband, and have set my family up with the obligatory @btopenworld email adresses.

But, as the price of uncapped broadband acees from other providers is dropping (Bulldog 8 mb looks appealing!) Im tempted to change.

Can I still access btopenworld email? (After 5 years pretty much everyone has these addresses and changing doesnt really appeal)

Thanks

Nick

Maybe, maybe not.

If you`re lucky you will be able to collect mail but not send it - you`ll need to send using your new ISP. Hopefully someone who`s moved from BTBroadband will be able to help. To maintain the email address you may need to continue to subscribe to BTBroadband in some way - perhaps get converted to an 0845 dial up account?

This is one major reason I pay a tenner a year to own my own domain name - that way I can move ISP whenever I want, and my email address remains the same.

I changed from BT a few years back, and can still access my BT account via Yahoo webmail. They seem to treat the email as a freebie so you should have no problems.
