Which Laptop? £500ish

Daywalker (Competent) posted this on Monday, 16th May 2005, 19:12

Hi,
I am after a laptop which will mainly be used for writing scripts. I am looking to spend about £500, and I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations? I am currently looking at the Medion Sim2000 which is really small so great portability, I`m not sure if it will be comfortable to type on for long periods, as there isnt much space to rest your hands, so if anyone has one of those, what do you think?
Thanks for your help,
Phil

Computer Shopper has a roundup of sub £500 notebooks this month. Sorry can`t post direct link, but have a go on www.computershopper.co.uk and click on the `labs` link.

Two of our friends just bought one for £489 in a sale from Staples (I think they were £550ish before the sale) and they were both very happy with theirs. They were quite a good spec for the price, but not much possibility of future upgrade for them if it was ever needed. I can`t remeber the make/model of the one the both bought, but Staples had quite a few around that price range.
