Problem with daughters "The Sims" game on PC, not loading! any ideas please?
Installed The Sims on PC, and seemed fine.
Left CD in Drive and started the game, after about 5 mins of loading all of the settings, etc the PC just defaults back to the standard XP desktop >:(
The intro screens all seem to be displayed fine, the game seems to be loading, then Bang, the desktop appears.
Is this a graphics card problem? Do I need to adjust any of the PC`s settings to run this (quite old) game? Daughter has pestered me for months, finally got it for her and now she can`t play it. Worst still she paid for it with her Birthday money :(
Pulling Hair out. Any ideas please
I got stung with a Spiderman game I bought... same problem I think, It loaded fine, got to where it says do you want to launch bladebla, and nowt but an error about graphics card.
You need a T & L compatible graphics card to run the sims I believe.

Sims or Sims 2?
Sims "should" run on an old PC (my p2 450 just about runs it with all expansions) no problem.
Sims 2, I remember reading you need a fast processor if you don`t have a T&L graphics card , eg onboard Intel Extreme.
It may be worth having a look in the directory the game is installed for a file called sims.log ore something like that. open that in wordpad, and it may give you a clue where it exits.

Have a look on the sims website - there`s a patch that fixes this.
