Page 1 of DVDR Media?

In relation to my other post.

I`m going to buy a Pioneer 109.

Is there any media I should avoid like the plague, or is there any that comes highly recommended?

I think I`ll use +r as I have a dvd recorder linked up to me telly.

I only use Ritech DVD-R media. I have tryed Blukpaq, datawrite, and a few others and the best that I have tried have been Ritech. (Some other brands are too frail / scratch easy / no not read in 3 months time).

There are other suppliers for disk though - take a look at the bargin buckets forum. Ebuyer comes to mind if you want other items as well..

Ive just finished off a bulkpak of 25 Gigatain DVD+R`s i got off ebay for a fiver and not a single coaster among them (used for data back ups and DVD back ups).

The chaps name was buyblanks. Excellent service and prices so if youve got a paypal account you could do a lot worse.

Is this true that a disc will be unreadable in 3 months? Surely not. I`ve got a few Ridiscs, but I mainly use Datawrite now. I look after them, no scratches or fingerprints. It`s just that I hand these DVDs out because they have my work on them (films/documentaries/showreels) and if they will erase as time passes then that`s really bad :(

I had major problems with some bulkpac disks, a red / orange colour spindal. They where all tosters within a few months. The Ritechs disks have been wonderfull. I have not tryed the Datawrite disks for a while, but I am going to try a pack of Datawrite titaniums when I next order.

Sadly it is true but you should be ok with the Ridisc , like Chris has said one of the main culprits are the Bulkpaq orange discs ( Generation 4 ) and other Princo dye type discs from that period , I have had some that had no scratches or marks whatsoever on the business side but still could not be read only a few months after burning as the dye deteriorates ( ****ing big word for me this time on a sunday morning). :D

Best value disc on the market at the moment IMO.
