Where Can I get Cheap PC Components Such as a Motherboard and Memory

pcsaver (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 6th May 2004, 18:16

Hi
I want to build a new PC proabably a budget PC, such as an AMD Athlon 2400 with 256MB DDR Ram.

However after looking around on the internet ebuyer seem quite cheap but their memory does not seem that cheap.

Has anybody got any suggestion of sites for cheap memory, AMD Athlon CPUS and Motherboards?

Give dabs a try, look out for the dabsvalue range, usualy good products just rebadged.

Can highly recomend the dabsvalue case, the £29 one, it has a 420w psu, front usb, an extra cooling fan and very nice looking, for a case anyway.

I bought a Dabs value motherboard, an all in one for £40, turned out to be a gigabit board that was on sale elsewhere for £75

All the best

Ger.

As well as Dabs (good recommendation) check out:
www.ebuyer.com
www.novatech.com
www.scan.co.uk

I personally use either Ebuyer or Dabs for most stuff, or Novatech when I spot a bargain

MilesR, can you actually buy anything off that novatech website?

They look like IT training providers :/

Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent.
Forty percent of all people know that.

PC World have a cheap DFI NF2 ULTRA INFINITY motherboard available at the moment. Perfect for an Athlon PC.

It`s only a point of view...

Ebuyer always seem one of the best bets, I looked at loads
of sites whan I built my pc and Ebuyer came out best.

If you are happy to get all the components from them but find
there memory prices to be high, dare I suggest Ebay ?

Good luck
Gary

I`m also going to have a bash at building my own PC and am considering other suppliers in addition to those already mentioned.

Does anyone have any opinions on any of the following?:
www.komplett.co.uk
www.simply.co.uk
www.micom.co.uk
www.savastore.co.uk
www.pcnextday.co.uk
www.blankdiscshop.co.uk
www.refreshcomputers.com
www.softwareselect.co.uk

I was going to add www.bigpockets.co.uk to the list but decided not to after seeing their thread on The DVD Forums.
