Page 1 of please help me!! im new to my pc and i done something wrong!!

hello, please someone help.....i downloaded a winzip type file to views some tattoos
on a german web site, havin delted the file now as it did not run properley i have been left with the following messages on start up on my pc.

msinfo.exe
cannot find the file "msinfo.exe(or one of its components)make sure the path and filename are correct and thast all required libaries are available.

desktop
could not load or run msinfo.exe specified in WIN.INI file. make sure the file exists on your computer or remove reference to it in the win.ini file

this appers every time i boot up my pc.....

might have been a virus, have u run a virus checker? something similar happened to my other halfs comp, it deleted some files, and even reinstalling windows didn`t help, had to reformat and redo the whole thing :/

Don`t scare him, I used to get messages like that, if you go to.....oh hang on, if it`s a new comp it`s probably xp, you can`t do the msconfig thingy can you. I`m out of my depth, see ya lads!

I think you might find that this is some of the symptoms of hijacking by CoolWebSearch as mentioned elsewhere (here) in this forum.
Follow the link on that thread , download and run the removal tool and see if that sorts it.

you can also try running adaware

you can do msconfig in xp, go to start then to run and type msconfig and hit enter, there you go :)
