My Top 20 Horror Movies ---- My DVD Collection

My opinion is is that it`s like DVD Easter Eggs, i.e. a cunning ploy to make you think you`re getting something extra for free.

Especially annoying are the ones where the last track is say 25mins long, the first 5 mins of which is a song, then 15mins of silence, then another 5 minute song. I used to hate that cos my 1 st CD player you could ony ffwd song to song, not in a song :(

If I was an artist i`d want ppl to hear all the songs I had recorded!!!

I remember a mate had an REM CD ( I forget which one, I`m not even 100% sure it was REM) where if you "rewound" a certain track, the time would come up as - mins, so you`d get an extra song. Obviosuly we were impressed at the time, but then we only ever heard that song if some-one was about who had not witnessed this "cool" hidden bonus.

both of the UNKLE albums have hidden tracks. you have to "rewind" the first track to get to track 0

What I`m listening to

The one at the end of Nevermind used to scare the crap out of me EVERY time i listened to the damn album. 15 minutes of silence followed by loud shouting.

One of my faves is the Bass tester one at the end of Leftism. Thats some bowel loosening bass.

What I`m listening to...

Why do they make you wait 10-25 minutes to listen to the track though? Why don`t they just add the track as an extra track on the album and not have a load of dead air in which most people will take the CD out thinking it has finished?

doesnt really bother me. otherwise it would sort of defy the point of it being a hidden track...

The two I mentioned are only 30 seconds or so after the last track, I think.

I reckon the main reason they do it for 25 minutes is to push the disc to the limits - it`s a form of copy protection, as factory pressed CDs have a higher capacity than standard 74 / 80 minute discs. This means that the average person will try to copy it and be told there isn`t enough room.

Obviously you can get round this by copying individual tracks, but most novice users can`t be arsed / don`t know how to.

I also find them annoying.

Worst one was at the end of Monaco`s album (remember them? :/ ) when someone says "You can turn it off now" after about 10 minutes silence!

Usually the tracks aren`t very good and so didn`t make it on to the final album. I can`t think of any really good hidden tracks. Maybe Time Travel at the end of The Coral`s debut album, but mostly they are a waste of time!

Always good to put on in the local pub though - has the loudys heaping coins into the juke box thinking there`s dead air to be filled
