Best mid priced Multi Region DVD Player???

strangelove (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 23rd April 2002, 14:35

Hi
I am about to sell my own Wharfedale 750 to a friend and I want to get a good Budget-midpriced player (depending which is best, I don`t mind) that plays/can be hacked to play Region 1, RCE discs, and VCD`s. What are the best suggestions?
Thanks

Wharfdale 750 is multiregion - with DVD hack, and can play VCD`s - manual can`t admit it though for tax reasons

I know that but this is the original Wharfedale 750 and a lot of films cant be played properly, like RCE discs etc. I have already received and brought back 3 players in the space of 2 weeks and it is driving me mad.
Any ideas?

I have a Dansai which is good but if I had the money I would get a Pioneer 444 below at about £180

I bought a Haus H-615L-S ( Rebadged Zenix ? ) a few weeks ago from www.jungle.com for £130. Don`t know if you would class that as budget / mid-price player but it plays CD/CDR/CDRW/MP3/SVCD/DVD and has built in 5.1 / DTS decoders.Sounds great and I haven`t got a seperate amp yet. Also the region can be changed by a few simple key presses on the R/C. Admittedly I`ve not had the player long but to be honest it strips the @rse of the Toshiba 2109 I`ve had for the last two years.HTH
