New Mico Clasica 20 Supplies - No Macrovision Disable Option

kevint (Competent) posted this on Saturday, 13th April 2002, 00:08

Well they`re here - got mine from London Colney today, but there doesn`t seem to be any option to disable macrovision. The only option on page 2 is error correction.
Firmware shows as Clasica20 V1.01 and Microcode version is W-2401 09OCT01/1731.
Can any of you lucky people who got the orginal batch confirm the firmware/microcode version and if the second page has more than just the error correction option.
Cheers

I would just like to add that like you Kevint I have also just got the same dvd player as yourself with the same missing macrovision line in the setup page.

Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to hack the macro, even with out this line.

Again as prviously mentioned the firmware has changed can it be changed to the earlier version with no risk of damage to the machine.

Some help would really be appreciated by those in the know.

Cheers

can you still make it multi region on that new firmware?

Yes - multiregion is no problem (1-6 or 13 for region free). There is also an option on page 1 just below the region called OP PROH which is set ON (with a value of 1 I think by default) - the values can be changed 1-nnnn, but don`t seem to make any difference.

It plays DVD, CD, VCD, SVCD, MP3, CDR/CDRW ok, but it doesn`t play either miniDVD or mpeg files burnt as straight data files - does the original version play either of these?

The Mico also won`t play `enhanced cd` cd singles - tried 4 and they all come up with `incorrect disc format` although they all play back correctly as a cd in my old Samsung 709. Strangely it will play back the Dido - No Angel CD, which is also an enhanced cd.

Can anybody with the original confirm if it will play back enhanced cd singles.
