I have just recieved the new box and i did have a slight problem at first with my Goodmans 28 widescreen .I had to unplug it then reconnect and then the setup screen was ok and no more problems. The picture is great and works in RGB OR S/VIDEO OR COMP you can adjust the sound to match your Tv .The colours are very good no funny patterns .It is far better than i was expecting.

My normal tv reception is not very good so i was supprised that it works so well here.

Keep up the good work Pace .

Sounds cool - Does it have a card slot should you want to subscribe at a later time ?

[This thread might be better in Hardware - I`m sure several people will be interested in it!]
So do you get widescreen from BBC1,2, ITV1 & Channel 4? How have you rigged it - I currently have my 2 scarts taken up by DVD and VCR. I`ve had a look at the Pace website - the PDF of the manual was quite helpful, but am interested to hear more about it in practice. Nice to hear the picture is so good!

Also interested to know if the box can be controlled with different remotes - one for all, etc.

Finally, does anyone know how ITV Digital`s status will affect owners of this box? I assume that whatever happens, the free to air digital broadcasts will continue - the Government can`t insist that everyone gets a dish to receive digital - can they?

Hi again

The news 24 is in widescreen but the others are usually normal in the manual it mentions settings for widescreen tvs and letter box or normal.I have not tried any other remotes yet but the one that came with it is not bad.[ very much like the Deawoo videos remote in size and button layout.
The unit runs slightly warm after 2 hours use .The sound is good with no hum at all.
It does not have a card slot but does have a socket for an extra chip like the one in the other socket inside the flap under the unit.It does say it can be updated via some channels it lists in the manual.
The power supply is a 13 amp plug type and runs cool.

bye

All the free to air channels are transmitted in anamorphic wide screen, dependent on content of course. So check your setings or your cable. The BBC also have a nice way of transmitting full screen content slightly wider with the edges coloured in. I wich full screen DVDs followed a similar path.

ITV Digital primary channels are, apart from Carlton Cinema, all transmitted in 4:3. Where the original content is wide screen it is letterboxed.

BBC Digital has nothing to do with ITV Digital apart from selling it most of the content - and it will continue through these PACE boxes.

Yes this is really hardware - especially as no price is mentioned. Was it better then £99?

BBC4 is great!

I think the slot is a CAM. You buy a CAM insert it into the slot then insert an ITV Digital Card into it.

In the Mirror or SUN on Saturday they were showing the Nokia free to air box. It costs £150-00 but I think it is ready for a card.

If the Nokia is the same as the On Digital Nokia box, then it is CRAP, but if it has the newer processor as per PACE, On Digital box it will be quite good. I imagine the Pace being sold for £100-00 will have the same good processor as the ON Digital Pace receiver.
