I currently have a Sony Blu-ray player which is multi-region DVD, and an LG 3D Blu-ray player that I hate for all sorts of reasons (a few of which are it freezes and remote sensitivity is awful), and the way things are going I suspect to buy discs I'm going to have to venture outside of Region B.
Has anyone got one? Or can recommend a retailer?
Ordered one off Amazon, for £120 odd, it came without a PSU making it totally useless, so that's going back. :/
I see Multiregion Magic are still going, maybe I'll give them a chance.

Probably both cheaper and more future proof, as the modified region B units will invariably require firmware updates in the future, which make them lose their multi-region capability forcing you to pay again (at least that's the business model they used to adopt).
I buy so few Blu-rays these days, which with all of the Euro releases as well there's hardly anything I haven't been able to source from region B. MR DVD players were essential, but I haven't found that to be the case with BD.

Most ABC units are hardware modded and apparently updateable when new firmware comes out.
I'm keen to avoid yet another Blu-ray player eating up HDMI slots and power sockets, I already have two. :(
I'm now trying to decide what I want to pay, and if all this talk of mid-range players delivering clear noticeably more vibrant pictures than a budget unit is anything but typical What Hi-Fi lunacy.
After all, it's stored digitally, there is only one way to decode that digital data and it then gets thrown down a digital connection. How can one machine look noticeably better than another?

Blu-ray players don't live long enough anyway. DVD lasers just keep on shining, but Blu-ray lasers start losing power after just three years, at least that's what's happening to me. My second player is starting to give me the occasional NoDisc error. So paying £150 for a £60 player at MRM just for a region free chip in a player that will be dead in three years doesn't appeal to me.

I suspect you use yours more than I do. :) My first one is still going strong.
I don't mind paying (just over) twice the price, it's a niche modification, they have to cover the warranty (obviously they couldn't sent it back to Sony!), and everyone has to make a living.
Ordered the Sony BDP-S6500, will let you know how I go.
